Ruth Jividen Obituary

Jividen Ruth Sawyer Seymour Jividen, age 98, was born June 8, 1915 and passed away April 14, 2014 in Grove City, Ohio. She was the only child of Clarence W. Sawyer and Relieffe Grant Sawyer and was preceded in death by her parents and first husband Lem Seymour, and by her second husband Dale O. Jividen, to whom she was married twenty-two years. Ruth graduated from Grove City High School in 1934 and owned several area businesses through the years. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Grove City, a charter member of the Southwest Franklin County Historical Society, a 50-year member of Rebekah Lodge and a member of Moose #11, the Grove City Civic Club, Royal Neighbors of America, Evans Senior Center and an honorary member of the Tracktown Square Dance Club. Ruth is survived by two step-daughters, Reta (Dan) Ferguson and Betsy (Johnny) Click; three step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and her special cousin, Paul Sawyer. She was a sixth-generation descendent of Hugh Grant, Sr., the first settler in Jackson Township. Beulah Park is named for her great-aunt, Beulah Grant. Ruth was grateful for her many friends including Esta Fields, Betty Lewis, Virginia Cimin, Caroline Mullins and her niece and special caregiver, Robyn Jividen. Calling hours are 6-9 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2014, SCHOEDINGER-NORRIS FUNERAL HOME, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123 and 9-10 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014, St. John's Lutheran Church, 3220 Columbus Street, Grove City. We were out of town and missed hearing about Ruth until we returned. My husband and I met Ruth and Dale thru the Classic Steppers Square dance club. We had such wonderful times together. I loved her smile and her tender heart. She always had a hug and special word for me. She will be missed.
