Sara Jane Steck

STECK Sara Jane (Cook) Steck, age 86, of Orient, died Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Mount Carmel Medical Center. She was born August 27, 1922 in Circleville, daughter of the late George E. and Carrie E. (Mavis) Cook. She was a graduate of Circleville High School and a longtime member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grove City where she taught Sunday School for over 30 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Rosemary Cook and an infant brother. She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Earl L. Steck; sons, Carl D. Steck of Circleville, James Curtis (Beth) Steck of Galloway, and John C. (Cheryl) Steck of Orient; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2008 in the chapel of the DEFENBAUGH-WISE-SCHOEDINGER FUNERAL HOME, 151 E. Main St., Circleville with Pastor Ray Rosenthal officiating. Interment to follow at Forest Cemetery, Circleville. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
