REMEMBERING YOU! I WENT INTO THE HOSPITAL WITH A BAD HEART. THE DOCTORS SAID I NEEDED HEART SURGERY, I TOLD MY FRIEND IN THE ROOM WITH ME AND THAT I NEEDED HEART SURGERY AND DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A DOCTOR. HE SAID I KNOW A GOOD DOCTOR AND HE IS MY DOCTOR DR STEWART STOCK. I COULDN'T OF GOTTEN ANY BETTER ADVICE. HE WAS ONE OF THE BEST DOCTORS THAT I EVER RAN INTO. IF IT WASN'T FOR DR STOCK I WOULD NOT BE HERE TODAY. HE WAS ALWAYS SO GOOD TO ME AND TREATED ME WITH SPECIAL CARE, LIKE ALL HIS PATIENTS. HE WILL ALWAYS BE WALKING THE HALLS AND VISITING THE ROOM OF HIS PATIENTS AT GRANT. HE WILL BE MISSED AND WE WILL SURELY MISS HIM. THERE IS NO ONE THAT COULD TAKE HIS PLACE. LOSING HIM WAS VERY HARD FOR ME WE WERE AS CLOSE AND FATHER AND SON AND THAT IS THE WAY HE TREATED ME. GOD BLESS YOU AND REMEMBERING YOU AS ONE OF THE BEST HEART DOCTORS IN COLUMBUS. Suzanne & Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Dr Stock was so much more than my doctor, he was my friend and special angel. He cared for me for over 30 years and I know without him, I would not be alive today. I can remember waking up many times to see him in my hospital room at night checking on me or asleep in a chair. What a wonderful man he was and I am so saddened that he never got to retire and enjoy a life without worrying about a patient. He saved me so many times, I wish I could have returned the favor and saved my friend. I will miss my friend. Thank you for sharing him with his patients.
God Bless You all!

My thoughts and prayers are with the Stock family. I have been traveling and just found out this weekend that Dr. Stock had passed away. As a young nursing grad working in the CCU at Mercy Hospital in 1974, Dr. Stock was a great teacher and an inspiration to me. A quiet caring man he treated patients and staff with respect and kindness. My fondest memory--wagering $1 a game on all the college bowl games (he always let me pick first!). A wonderful man has been taken from this earth too soon.

You will always be in my HEART, because of YOU and God I am here today.

You saved my life many times, if only I could have saved yours.

Thank you for always being there for me day or night.

I love you Dr. Stock (dad)

I will miss you.

Dr Stock my doctor and my friend, took care of me for over thirty three years, seen me through four open heart surgeries, took such pleasure in knowing how well I pulled through the last surgery in January of 2006, his caring kind ways will always be remembered. I personally don't know what I will do without him. I have always known whatever the problem I could call him . I have found Dr Stock many times sitting with his feet up on my bed at two or three oclock in the morning just watching my pattern of breathing while sleeping, there will never be another like him. He took care of my mother the same way , she loved him trusted him until she died July the 14th 2006.My heart aches for the loss of such a great doctor and human being! sadly missed and loved Joann Blankenship Groveport , Oh

I have very fond memories of working and knowing Dr. Stewart Stock.Working on the code team at Mercy Hospital with him. I saw a very caring and dedicated physician with him nearly coming to tears after loosing one long term patient we had all came to know very well.We spent many hours in conversation together and I consider his friendship and dedication a strong factor in my faith in medical profession. We need many more like him to come along.

Suzanne,Stephanie, and Shawn,
May God's peace and blessings be on you and your families at this time. I met Dr. Stock at Grant as a new nursing "grad" in 1989. I wasn't sure how to take him at first, but the other nurses assured me of his outstanding patient care. Many times I would see him come in very late to see patients and they would always seem as if they were expecting him. None of them ever complained about being awakend by Dr. Stock. Dr. Stock also took care of my grandmother several years ago. There was comfort in knowing the physician caring for her. She appreciated him very much. I am thankful to have know him and worked with him. Sincerely, Rebekah Copeland

I count as one of the most fortunate and luckiest days of my life that day, thirty years ago, that I met and came under the care of Dr. Stock.
It has been my privilege to know such an honorable. caring, considerate and dedicated man.
I loved and respected him both as my doctor and as my friend.
I know I owe my life to Dr. Stock and if I could speak wih him I would tell him how much my wife, my children and myself thank him for his many years of tender loving care.
Suzanne,my heart goes out to you and may God bless and comfort you and your family. Please accept my sincere thank you for sharing your Dr. Stock with us.

Suzanne, Shawn and Stephanie....thank you so much for sharing your beloved with us. We here at Grant have loved him as you have loved him. I was privledged to know him professionally and personally. I worked on the 6th floor for many many years and now in the GI lab. Dr. Stock held my hand while we scoped him on July 27th. That was my last conversation with him. He was the one doctor I knew I could call day or night and he would be there. He will be missed beyond words. My husband is a HUGE Michigan fan and I an OSU fan....he spoke to my husband on several occasions and always would ask me..."are you still married to "that" guy!!!". Take care and god bless. tami ford

To Suzanne, Shawn, Stefanie and Families:

Please accept my deepest sympathies. Dr. Stock was a kind & considerate man and physician who made a difference and touched many lives in Central Ohio. We will miss, but never forget him.

I had the honor and privilege of working with Dr. Stock for 14 years as a Nuc Med
Tech in the Nuclear Medicine Department at Grant Medical Center. I learned first hand what empathy and compassion were all about by observing Dr. Stock take care of his patients. The look in his and his patients' eyes told how devoted they were to each other.

When Dr. Stock took a rare break at Grant, his three passions were to talk about his family, and then Pickerington & OSU Football/Basketball. Pickerington has lost one of its all-time #1 Fans.

I once asked Dr. Stock when he was ever going to take a vacation. He stated that he takes one of his favorite vacations every year by attending one or maybe two days at the Farm Science Review in London, Ohio. Other than spending one day at one of OSU's Bowl games, it was hard to seperate Dr. Stock from his patients.

It is comforting to know that Dr. Stock is now riding God's tractor while holding his favorite penlight in Heaven so that we can find our way and see through the darkness.

There are no words to express our shock. I was searching the internet for Dr Stock's office address for an insurance form, and I found this site.

My husband had a heart attack at a young age in Columbus. He was taken to CCH, where by "luck of the draw", he bacame Dr Stock's patient. The "special" treatment he received in CCU because he was Dr Stock's patient, the ride in the Stock Mobile to Grant, how he would always show up when needles were involved in his treatment. (My husband is terrified of needles.) These are just a few memories of what was a very scary time in our lives.

Like other patients have expressed, going to an appointment with Dr Stock, was like going to see a friend. The football and farm talk, along with the care, never made it seem like you were in a doctors office.

He will be so greatly missed. Thank you, his family , for sharing him with so many that desperately needed him at the time.

There will never be another like him.

My deepest sympathies for your loss. I first met Dr Stock in the early 80's, my father was his patient. My dad adored Dr Stock, he would tell me stories re; his office visits and his hospital stays. One night Dr Stock was so worried about my father I was told he pulled up a chair in his room and stayed there all night. Dr Stock even called me on several occasions (in Arizona) to update me on my dad's condition. By 2000 my mother needed a cardiologist,
again Dr Stock was there, he took such care of both my parents. I'm forever grateful.

To the Stock Family, My deepest sympathy goes out to you at this most difficult time. May you find peace and comfort in knowing that he is home and at rest. I have known "Stu" and Dr. Stock for many years. He truly was a great man and doctor. He gave me my last "Stress Test". We were in elementary and high school together. He was my father's doctor also. The medical field has truly lost a great doctor and I have lost a good friend. His shoes will be very hard to fill, if ever. I'm sorry that I never had the pleasure of meeting you, Suzanne or his children. May God bless you. Would you please let me know when the memorial will be held?

Dear Stock Family, words can't express how sorry I am for your loss. Dr. Stock was so wonderful to his patients. He had the respect of everyone who worked with him at Grant. Of the 20 years I worked at Grant I remember working in the cath lab from 1981 - 1984. Dr Stock would tell us about his kids. How Stefanie had to practice basketball before she could do her homework. He was so proud of his family. Words just can't describe his caring behavior and how much he will be missed.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I'm sure you will have a great void to your home with this loss. My father was a patient of Dr. Stocks for over 20 years. He was always such a caring person and you felt as if my father was his only patient. He will be missed greatly by my family.

I was blessed in the course of working with such an incredible Physician. I had the privilege of working with Dr. Stock in the Grant Cath Lab. I remember my first days in the lab as the new RN; he was so reassuring and gave me confidence. He taught me about big city politics and SO much more. I can still hear him say 2 very common phrases: “I’ll be there in 4 minutes” and “You know what I mean”. If we needed a chart we knew it was safely tucked in the trunk of the car…better known as “the Stock Mobile” used at times to personally bring patients to the hospital for care and give them a ride home. His devotion to his patients all hours of the night and day was endless. God Bless you. Thank you for sharing him with us!

Dr. Stock once told me that he wished he could live forever so he could take care of people forever. Well, he will live forever in the hearts and memories of all who knew him as evidenced by the pages and pages of these wonderful tributes. How blessed we all were to have known such a wonderful man.

Dr. Stock was a great person that I adored and enjoyed working with him @ Columbus Community Hospital and Mount Carmel East & West Hospitals. He always remembered me and my family. No matter how busy he was, he always took the time to ask how my family and I were doing. He will be truly missed. My heart is very sad to know that such a brilliant man was taken so early in life. I just hope that he went peacefully. Please know that my family & I are truly very sad to learn of his death, but at the same time very honored to know him personally. He was truly kind to his patients and spoke often of his family. I can't say enough about Dr. Stock. I always learned each time I took care of his patients. He was truly a brilliant man who I had so much respect for and I am glad I got to work with for so many years. May Dr. Stock rest in peace and his family find peace knowing that he is no longer suffering and he is probably resting for the first time.

My heartfelt sympathy to Dr. Stock's family and friends. I was saddened by the news of his passing, as the world of medicine has lost a great man.
I first met Dr. Stock on the 8th floor of GMC, where as a new nurse he intimidated the dickens out of me! After listening to every one of his patients, without exception, voice their devotion to his care, I began to realize there was certainly much more to this hulking figure in a white jacket.
He taught me much, even before I witnessed him caring for patients when he should have instead been one himself. True courage, compassion, knowledge, tempered with a sharp wit. I'll miss you, Sir, and I am a better person and better nurse for having known you.

Kim and John Hazlip

September 24, 2007

I first met Dr Stock over 30 years ago while working on the 6th floor at Grant as an RN. His demeanor was unique, and one of respect, sincerity, and love for all he was around. His patients held him in high esteem, and it always intrigued me as to how much they adored him. Even after leaving Grant approx.eighteen years ago, I would run into him from time to time, and he still remembered my name, and smiled, and asked how I was. He was a gentleman who was in a league of his own. It is truly amazing as to how he managed to penetrate the hearts of sooooooooooo many different people in all different walks of life. That is a gift that God bestowed upon him. I consider it to be a priveledge to have known him in just a little bit of his life, but I can assure you, there is something sweet and tender that he imparted to those who were around him. I can imagine you, his family, know exactly what I mean. Prayers for the King of Kings to comfort you all, John and Kim Hazlip

Dearest Suzanne~
My heart is SO HEAVY as I only found out tonight at my grandson's baseball game that Stewart has earned his Eternal Reward. I had been praying for him ever since I heard about the pancreatic cancer.

I first "met" him through his patients when I was paying his claims at Aetna Life Ins. Co. going back to July, 1974! The way his patients spoke of him, I KNEW he was one of THE MOST SPECIAL doctors in practice.

The first time I met him - in 1987, I HAD to tell him that I thought he was SO MUCH OLDER than he was because of the way his patients spoke of him. Only an OLD COUNTRY DOCTOR would be so kind, caring and compassionate to their patients.

I had the privilege of arranging your health insurance plans for so many years (until I retired in Jan. 2003). I LOVED coming down to the office, visiting with you and Stewart - and Junie!

A few months ago I was at Grant visiting an elderly friend and as I was leaving, walking past the cafeteria, there was Stewart with his dinner tray and it was about 7:30 p.m. I am SO GLAD I saw him and was able to "catch up" on things since I'd retired. He was just MAGIC! My life is richer because he was a part of it. Heaven is now richer because he has arrived in the GLORY he so richly deserves. I can just hear the Lord proclaim to him, "Well done, good and faithful servant! The Kingdon of Heaven is yours!"

You are on my heart, in my thoughts and prayers with sympathy and love at this most DIFFICULT TIME, Suzanne!

Dr. Stock has been my doctor and friend since 1991. He thanked me for recommending Shawn for a job at Huntington Bank. He helped me through the death of my husband in 2003. Life will not be the same without him. My heart broke when I found out he was so ill and now finding out that he is gone life just will never be the same. He took the time to introduce me to Suzanne on one of my visits to his office. At my last visit with him he asked me a lot of questions that he had never asked before and he went into the waiting room and introduced himslf to the the person I had been seeing and said to hime "you take care of her because she is a special lady". I never thought that this would be the last time that I would see him.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Stock family as they go through the loss of such a great man who saved my life more than once. I trusted him completely with my life. I walked my two miles today and I will continue in the memory of him.

I started attending Grief Share tonight because of the loss of my husband almost 4 years ago but basically because I was having a hard time of accepting the that Dr. Stock was dying. I just found out tonight that he had died. I can not tell you how much it hurt to learn this news but then I know you feel much more pain that I do.

God be with you in the coming years because it will take a long time to heal if ever from the loss.

God be with you.

Mrs. Stock and family,God grant you peace and bless you in this time. I remember Stewart in high school as always friendly, caring, polite and a team leader. Years later, while working at Grant hospital,he had the same winning spirit as when he overcame his injuries. He was a success at what he attempted, but he still had a humbleness and warm caring way about him that made you feel that you were special. He must have walked in His path always. His life as a hero to many,is a credit few know. Remembering the joy that he brought to all who ever knew him brings a smile. B.Jean Jolliff

I have considered it an honor and privilege to have worked with Dr. Stock for the past eleven years. His dedication and compassion for his patients will never be forgotten. He was truly the Best Doctor anyone could ask for. He was also always there to listen and help staff members whenever necessary. He gave his patients more than medical care, he gave them friendship and he helped them in anyway possible - Like ordering birthday cakes for his patients and a snicker bar on one occasion as he knew it was the patients' favorite. There will never be a greater Doctor than Dr. Stock. I loved him for the way he cared for his patients and the way that he loved you, Shawn, Stephanie and especially his grandchildren. His beautiful blue eyes would just sparkle when he talked about all of you. I have been truly blessed to have known such a remarkable man. Heaven has truly received a special Angel. My deepest sympathy to you his loving family.

To the Stock family- Please know how very much I have appreciated and treasured Dr. Stock in the last seven years that I have been at Grant. Know that he has made a difference in my life and in my career, and that his dedication has touched the lives of so many even outside of his patients, whom he cared so well for. He is an incredible inspiration to me and so many others, and I will remember him fondly and often. You have my deepest sympathies and many prayers.

To Dr. Stock's wife and family,
Thank you for sharing him with us for so many years. I am deeply honored to have been able to work with Dr. Stock. I was a nurse on the 6th floor at Grant, and witnessed the incredible difference that Dr. Stock made in this world. The patients and staff adored his good and giving nature. I will greatly miss his teachings and talking about OSU football. If I could make one tenth the difference that he made, then I would consider my life a huge success.

Our deepest sympathy to the family of Dr. Stock.

Greg and I both worked with Dr. Stock at CCH for may years and are very saddened to hear of his passing.
I remember many evenings spent with grumbling and banter only to see the twinkle of those happy blue eyes and know the bond of mutual respect and caring for the patients, the staff and each other.
I send my condolences to the family, friends and those who did not have the opportunity to meet such a compassionate man. He will be greatly missed.

I worked at Grant Hospital and would see Dr Stock walking the halls and he always had a smile on his face. He would be in the fitness center when I worked out and he was the cutest most sincere man! You know there are angels that walk amongst us-he was and will always be one of those angels! He was a Devoted Dr to his patients and coworkers- he will be greatly missed in the halls of grant Hospital!

The feeling I have with loss of Stewart is overwhelming and difficult to accept. My visits with him were social as much as medical. Conversation were of family and the grade school football teams we had at St. Leo's
grade school. He has commented those years were some of the best. We sure had fun. On serious visits he had a very special demeanor making you feel calm stating things would work out.
I'm so very fortunate for the visit with him a few weeks ago before he closed the office. Conversation was so special and being the last one we had. He did say what a wild ride life had given us.
Gosh I'll miss him. Tears were flowing when I departed.Certainally God will furnish him a special place in heaven.
Will miss you,

Friend,
Coach,
Patient,

I am very sorry for your loss. Dr. Stock was not only a great Dr. he was a very caring individual. My best memories of Dr.Stock were when my Dad (Chandus Bowe..or as Dr. Stock called him "Shad") was in ICU (Cancer and Massive Stroke) at CCH and most everyone gave up hope but NOT Dr. Stock. Then my Mom (Patricia Bowe) had to have heart surgery and all of us gathered around her bed as they were wheeling her to surgery EVEN Dr. Stock, he stood there with everyone of us and bowed his head for prayer. He was not only a great Dr. whom EVERYONE of us cared deeply for he was like a part of our family. To the family of Dr. Stock you have my heartfelt condolences. God Bless

I can't imagine what it would be like to not have Dr Stock around as a family member, even though he made us all feel like family. He was a friend and mentor to everyone around him. He challenged us all to be better people and nurses. I have said to many that he is the heart and soul of the sixth floor at Grant. I feel for your loss, as we have all lost someone who made our lives a little better. Something all of us hope to do in our short time here. Thank you for sharing him.

It has been my honor to work with such a caring and compassionate man. He taught me kindness. He made sure "no stone was left unturned" paying attention to details that were important to his patients. I remember when he wrote an order to move a patient to a room "with a view" of the 4th of July Fireworks-it was her last 4th of July. I thank his wife Suzanne and his family for sharing him with us all these years. He loved what he did and we loved him. He will be missed. Joan Trimmer, RN Case Manager, Grant Medical Center

Mrs. Stock & family,
My deepest condolences on your loss. It has been my privilege to know & work with Stew for the past 21 years. I started out on 6 East at Grant and have had the pleasure of working with him in the ICU for the past 18 years. He was one of the sweetest, funniest people I have ever known & was truly compassionate to all those he cared for. I will miss seeing him late at night grabbing a bite to eat in the cafeteria and asking him how 's life on thefarm. He will be sorely missed, but his spirit lives on in these walls here at GMC. God bless all of you in this difficult time, you are in my prayers.

Dr.Stock was my doctor for over 20 years. He cared for his patients in a way that was special. No one can ever fill his shoes. He said to me one time that I reminded him of his mother, that I felt, was an honor. I could write a book about him and maybe someday I will. When he went to heaven I do believe God said to him "Well Done Faithful Servant". May God comfort his family in their sorrow.Your yard sale buddy, Yvonne May

Deepest sympathy to the family of Dr. Stock. One always knew you had his full attention and support when you needed it most. He saved my life (as he did for many others)and helped me begin a new one. He was a credit to his profession and a gift to mankind. I know he now rests in peace and that his kindness will comfort all of us who mourn with his family.

My fondest memories of Stew are how well he handled adversity. A tornado destroyed his family's barn, a tractor rolled up on him and the oil burned him but he was always optimistic. He loved to sing "Peggy Sue" while dribbling a basketball down the court. He was a great classmate that became one of Licking Heights most notable graduates. A truly great man.

I will miss you Dr. Stock. You always told me how I had the best Mitral Valve and if any doctor could not hear it then they were not a doctor. You always had something nice to say to me even when I was down. I remember when I was going through my divorce and you said "does he know what he has lost and he will never find anyone as beautiful and nice as you". You were always worried about your patients and never took time for yourself. I always told my mom that you worried me not resting. I know you are in heaven and taking care of everyone there. You will be missed and there will never be a cardiologist that can take your place. You took care of me and my family when my stepfather was dying and my dad was going through cancer. You were with us all hours of the day and night. You even took care of me when I was sick with the flu because I did not want to see another doctor. Your family will be in my prayers. I love you Dr. Stock and you will be missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you, his wife and children, and the Stock family at this most difficult time. Dr. Stock has been our family's doctor for over 30 years. Although our parents are deceased, we children have also been patients of Dr. Stock. No one can ever take his place. He was the most generous, compassionate, caring and dedicated doctor that this world has ever known. We knew when Dr. Stock looked at us with his beautiful and sincere blue eyes that whatever procedure he was performing, everything was going to be just fine. He made sure of that. He would take the time to talk to us to reassure us and hold our hand or give us a pat just to let us know that he cared and that he was right there with us. We never felt uncertain or afraid as long as Dr. Stock was beside us. He was such a precious individual. This world lost a one-of-a kind man when God called Dr. Stock home to heaven. Heaven has surely received one of its most precious angels back. May God Bless you, his family, and may God bless you, Dr. Stock and grant you the eternal peace and rest you so much deserve. It has been such a privilege knowing you. Haldor and Goldie Smales Children (Sue, Jimmy, the twins [Karen and Sharon] and Vicki) - Obetz, OH

To the family of Dr. Stock:
I worked the 6th floor for a few years then transferred to the 7th floor @ Grant and I remember him coming in at 1am or 2am and I would be the person that he would nab as he made his super early morning rounds.
I also remeber patients telling me that sometimes that they didn't have the money to pay him for an office call so they told me that they would bake cookies and he accepted them as payments. Not to many doctors would be as kind!

He also took care of my father and mother and grandfather.

I know that Dr. Stock is still out there somewhere working and his obituary proves that he just won't stop! Is he ever going to get any rest? I know that all the people in heaven are getting their cardiovascular systems checked out right now. There is no stopping him. He probably has several heart cath's scheduled for the a.m. Dr. Stock please get some rest and don't tell me you keep getting second winds. Please RIP.
How blessed are we on this planet earth to have got to know such a wonderful man. Those who never knew him have really missed out. God Bless.
