I came to know and work with Tammy, first through Higher Ground Servant Leadership at Mount Carmel Health System. I retired in 2008 and at that time Tammy had assumed the role at MCSA of VPPCS and CNO. I know that role meant a lot to her and I know what great hope, skill and caring Tammy brought to that very important work. I am so terribly sad to hear of her illness and death. I am praying for Tammy and for her family. May God Bless you with His Peace and comfort you at this difficult time.

I am so sorry for your loss. I got to know Tammy more recently over the last year through the hospital's Professional Practice Council. I usually bring chocolate to our meetings. The last one I had with the CNO's including Tammy before her leave, I brought some peppermints and she said, "Oh that was just enough to settle my tummy". Now, every time I have one of those chocolate peppermints, I will remember her and say a little prayer. May God grant her eternal rest and help those she had to leave behind. I pray you will have the strength to carry on and will find comfort in your memories of Tammy.

Dear Phil, Shannon and Nicki,
My family and I are deeply saddened to hear about Tammy. Tammy was my wonderful nursing supervisor on 3 Tower. It was an inspiration watching her create that unit from the ground up.
My fondest memories were the work Christmas Parties at your home and leaving with one of Tammy's handmade Santa Christmas ornaments. Every year, as we are putting Tammy's ornaments on our tree, I tell my girls about her and what a pleasure it was to work with her. I know we will continue to talk of Tammy and what a beautiful person she was.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Love, Mary, John, Patricia and Lizzy McAvoy

It can be a true test of faith to understand God's plan for Tammy when it feels that she was still needed here. I hope you can take comfort in remembering that we don't have to understand it - God does. It's been a long time since I last saw Tammy, but the minute I laid eyes on her photo, her infectious laugh came to mind -great memories and fun times too. So sorry, Kate Selegue Delker

The Weidner Family: Please accept my sincerest sympathies for your loss. I first met Tammy in high school, and saw her again years later when she was a nurse on the Mt. Carmel floor where my father had been admitted. Tammy was in the room with us when the doctor told us that Dad had passed - and she cried with us. I have never forgotten her kindness. We wish you peace and strength.

To Tammy's family.
I am so very saddened to learn of your loss. Tammy was one of the first people I met when I entered Mount Carmel School of Nursing in 1978. She was so young, vivacious, smart, friendly and just a joy to know. I related so much to her because I had four children at home, the oldest being just a year younger than Tammy. I was one of the older students in those days and Tammy, I, and specifically two other students became real close. I was honored to be invited to all their weddings. Most of the students were just out of school or in their twenties. Tammy was such a wonderful student. She was very serious about her nursing, but yet such fun. I remember how very much she couldn't wait to get married. We had a wonderful three years at Mount Carmel. I will never forget how when she talked about her Phil, she just gleamed. After we graduated we saw each other over the years as I had many family members admitted to Mount Carmel East as well as being there myself for a few surgeries. I always was so happy to see her. She never ceased to come see me so we could reminisce. I also worked next door to Mount Carmel East for one of the OB- GYN offices. Tammy was there when my dad died and was such a comfort.. We sometimes met in the cafeteria just to catch up. We lost track of each other and just a year or so ago I was at Mount Carmel East and asked about her. I am so sorry. God Bless all of you!

We last spoke with Tammy at the football fields in the fall and while we had not seen her in a while it was as if no time had passed. That was what defined Tammy as a person... her warm heart, friendly smile and a giving spirit. Our fond memories will sustain us for years to come. With much love, Tory and Cathy.
