THOMPSON Velma Elizabeth (Tobias) Thompson, 88, of Piqua, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2005 in the Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy, Ohio. Velma was born May 21, 1916 to the late Perry and Lula Mae (McConnell) Tobias in Covington, Ohio. She was a 1934 graduate of Covington High School. Velma retired in 1999 after more than 30 years of service from the Reed-Mote-Staley Insurance Agency in Piqua. She was a homemaker for her family and found that position to be one of great importance and one in which she enjoyed very much. She loved and cared for her children and her grandchildren. She was a member of the Covington VFW Women's Auxillary and also served as past president and past treasurer for the auxillary. Velma will be missed and remembered by her daughters and son-in-law, Sandra Thompson of Piqua, Barbara and David Lavey of Piqua; sons and daughters-in-law, William and Monica Thompson of Columbus, OH., Dr. Robert and Hedy Thompson of Worthington, OH.; grandchildren, Scott Thompson of Mt. Vernon, OH., Susan Neill of Ashley, OH., Greg Thompson of Marysville, OH., Dr. Doug Thompson of Dublin, OH., Mark Draher of Grove City, OH., Chris Draher of Columbus, OH., Eric Lavey of Groveport, OH., Brad Lavey of Piqua, OH.; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Lucille Karns of Piqua, OH.; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Shirley Tobias of Fletcher, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband Judson Harold Thompson in 1958, a sister Virginia Brinkman, two brothers-in-law Joseph Karns and Arthur Brinkman. Calling hours will be Friday, February 11 from 5-8 p.m. in the PEARSON-JACKSON FUNERAL HOME, 10 South High St., Covington, Ohio with the Women's VFW Auxillary having memorial services at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Service will be Saturday, February 12, 2005 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Samuel Hoeflich officiating. Interment service will be in the Miami Memorial Park Cemetery in Covington. Contributions can be made to the Piqua Educational Foundation at 719 E.
