Werner Samlowski Obituary

Samlowski Dr. Werner E. Samlowski, MD, 91, of Naples, Florida, passed away December, 6, 2013, finally free from battling debilitating health issues. He was born July 1, 1922 in Koenigsburg, Germany to Ernst and Frieda Samlowski. He graduated from Medical School at the Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany. Werner married Renate Roye in February 14,1953. Shortly thereafter, the young couple immigrated to the United States, arriving in New York harbor aboard the SS United States. Werner served a Residency in Pathology at Grant Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, but due to the needs of a growing family, he became a Family Practitioner on the East side of Columbus, where he took care of many generations of families for 36 years. He also was the staff physician for St. Rita's Home, and a member of the Columbus Germania and Maennerchor Clubs. Werner had a gift for public speaking, and always knew the right words to say for every occasion. He and Renate traveled the world. He loved Marco Island, and in the last few years discovered the joys of an iPad. Werner was a kind physician, a loving husband, and a proud father of four sons, three of whom followed in his footsteps to become physicians, and one daughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Horst, wife Renate, and daughter Gisela. He will be greatly missed by his four sons, Wolfram (Suzanne), Las Vegas, Eberhard (Carol), Cleburne, TX, Norbert (Heidi), Steamboat Springs, CO, and Ralph (Jana), Huntsville, AL, as well as ten grandchildren, Lizzy, Erika, Adam, Elijah, Elise, Tyler, Sam, Hannah, Tiana, and Ian. No services are planned, but a celebration of Werner's life will be held in the spring in Naples, Florida. If so inclined, please make a donation to the Ohio State University Department of Neurology, 395 W. 12th Ave., 7th Floor, Columbus, OH 43210, for stroke research.

Just learned of Dr. Samlowski's passing. I know he has been missed. I have many good memories of the care he provided to our family in the 60's in Reynoldsburg. What a wonderful doctor and man.

Dear family Samlowski,
I'm so sorry, that Dr. Werner passed away.
We  have known Dr. Werner and Renate since about the first day we came to
Woodgate for the winter.(my husband Paul also died 2years ago).
We shared many  good and sometimes not so good memories since I also came
from  the formerEastGermany.
I take long walks on the beach and often met both of them or later only
Renate while Dr. Werner was at therapy at 6th. Ave.We sat on the bench and
talked. Many times we went for the beautyful Naples sunset together.
Those are memories and stored away.
I met you,Jana and your youngest son one time when I did visit Dr. Werner.
After that I  did see him one more time before I left for my other home in
Indiana. He told me then, that he was ready..........
I'm so happy I met him,---both of them!!!!!!

                             My deepest sympathy

I worked for Dr. Samlowski in the eatly 1980's. I so enjoyed my time there with Dr. SAM & RENATE. We had such a good time sharing family stories about our children. They were so proud of their children as I am of mine. God's Blessings to you & your families. May your memories help you to overcome your loss. Warmest regards. Karen Mitchell Canal Winchester Ohio.

Dr. Samlowski took care of our family when I was little. I will always appreciate his kindness to my youngest brother, who had been born MR/DD. That was over 40 years ago, and the kindness has not been forgotten.
