Vivian Brown Obituary

Vivian Brown was born July 8, 1923 in Gulfport MS. A longtime resident of Maben, she completed her life on earth and was welcomed by the love of her life into heaven on January 7, 2017.

In 1941 she met and married, as she said, a very handsome young man, Claude Eugene Brown of Maben, MS. They celebrated seventy-five years of marriage on June 15, 2016. The Browns were blessed with a loving family including six children: Butch Brown of Maben, Jim Brown (Deceased), Ed Brown (Joyce) of Maben, Connie Greer of Shannon, Deborah Kornegay of Columbus and Joyce Pate (Glen) of Mathiston, sixteen grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Vivian was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Margarete Ford of Ethel, her husband Claude Brown, son Jim Brown, daughters-in-law Donna Brown and Judy Brown, sons-in-law Donnie Greer and Melvin Kornegay, three brothers and one grandson.

In 1965 after many years as a military wife, she returned to Maben to serve her church, her family, her friends, and her community. Vivian was an Oktibbeha County bailiff for twenty years. She loved people and enjoyed baking special treats for many special friends. She spent her time making sure that every one of her children and grandchildren knew that each of them were her favorite. Vivian enjoyed her flowers, quilting, needlepoint, ceramics, and fishing. Most of all, Vivian enjoyed helping others. She could often be found on her porch, rocking with the love of her life of seventy-five years, and enjoying visits with family and friends.

Vivian was a member of Maben First Baptist Church where she enjoyed her Sunday School class and JOY Club.

Visitation will be Monday, January 9, 2017 at Maben First Baptist Church from 5:00-7:00 P.M. The service celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 AM., Tuesday, January 10th at Maben First Baptist Church with Pastors Brother Randall Poss and Brother Tommy Temple officiating. Burial will follow in Maben Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Stained Glass Window fund of Maben First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 249, Maben, MS 39750.

Vivian was always one of Daddy's favorites - and one of mine too. When he refused to let me have a 90th birthday party for him, she
arranged a surprise party. He loved it and I appreciated it.. She was
funny and smart and a great person.. She will be missed.
