Ken Shipp was an icon in the coaching fraternities of both the NCAA & the National Football League. Others have already written of his coaching successes in the college ranks and in the NFL. His exceptional coaching techniques and mannerisms furthered the developments of both Namath and Manning, true; but he also created incredible friendships where ever he went. Many friends mourn his passing. He leaves an splendid legacy - at every stop he made along his legendary coaching career, and certainly at his beloved MTSU. RIP, Coach Ken

My daughter and I met Coach Shipp last year through his scholarship assistance.
We got to eat lunch with him, take pictures and share some of his cherished coaching memories. He was kind, thoughtful and down to earth. What a blessing it was to share time with him.

Knew Kenneth Shipp since the 40's and always liked him. His coaching career is unmatched by a M'boro and MTSU product--and it's puzzling MTSU never put him in its Sports Hall of Fame. He coached Joe Namath and Archie Manning as pro's-- both on record how much he meant to their careers. Ken, nonetheless, was generous with his alma mater and loved M'boro.

Coach Shipp was a dear friend of the Todd family. I am blessed to have known him. He always had a warm smile and kind, hearty greeting wherever our paths crossed. I know my Dad, Aaron Todd, and my Uncle, Jack "Shot" Todd were good buddies of Coach Shipp. I have do doubt they will continue their "card games" together in Heaven. Ken Shipp will be dearly missed by all!
