Mae Hinchey Obituary

Mae E. 'Mom' Hinchey 83, of Westminster Mae Elizabeth "Mom" Ibex Hinchey, 83, of Westminster, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at Carroll Hospital Center. Born Sept. 20, 1925, in Westminster, she was the daughter of the late Elais Oliver and Fannie Rebecca Beegle Ibex. She was the wife of Floyd E. Hinchey, who died July 1999, and with whom she would have celebrated their 67th anniversary Aug. 12. She was a housewife, assisting her daughter as a day care provider assistant and was known to the kids as "Miss Mae" for 15 years. In the early '60s, she worked in the snack-bar of the Ridge Drive-In in Westminster and was a second lieutenant in the Carroll County C.A.P Squadron. She enjoyed cooking, camping, gardening, canning and spending time with her many "children." She had belonged to the First Church of God in Westminster for many years. Surviving are children and spouses Terry L. and son-in-law "Bill" Robertson, Robin G. Hinchey, and Blane E. Hinchey, all of Westminster, Dennis C. Hinchey, of Wyoming; a half-sister, Nancy Lee Grubb, of Hopewell, Va.; grandchildren Jennifer L. Herron, of Finksburg, Gina R. McDermott, of Union Bridge, Kelley R. Hinchey, of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Bryan A. Hinchey, of Las Vegas; great-grandchildren Andrew Williams, Emillee, Payton and Jayshawa McDermott, James Overholtzer and Kyra Haltiner; and a step-great-granddaughter, Erin McDermott. She was predeceased by sons Floyd "Kirby" and Daniel Allen "Sam" Hinchey; brothers John, Sam, Jake and Harry Ibex; an infant sister, Dorothy Marie Ibex; and a great-grandson, Airik McDermott. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, with the Rev. Charles E. Barnhart Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Meadow Branch Cemetery in Westminster. Memorial contributions may be sent to Sinai Hospital for Cyberknife, Department of Development, 2401 W.
