ALBERT RICE Obituary

Albert Dewey Rice Mr. Albert Dewey Rice, of Ozark, died Friday, August 20, 2010, in Dale Medical Center. He was 90. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2010, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Dr. Christian Eckert, Reverend Dr. Jason Thrower, and Reverend Dr. Billy D. Gaither officiating. Interment will be in Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Mr. Rice was born on August 27, 1919 in Roanoke, Alabama to the late George Dewey Rice and Evie Lorene Morris Rice. He had served as a bomber radioman during World War II and retired from the United States Air Force in 1973 with the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a thirty-six year resident of Ozark where he and his wife attended the First United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Fannie Burks; and his brother, Charlie F. Rice. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Dorothy Virginia Ellis Rice of Ozark; one daughter, Beverley Ann (Billie) Rucker of Bedford, Texas; one son, Everett Ellis Rice of Villa Rica, Georgia; two sisters, Mary Clyde Ussery and Opal Waldrep, both of Randolph County, Alabama; one brother, George J. Rice of Savannah, Georgia; six grandchildren, Lee Ann Rucker, John Rucker, James Rice, Suzanne Rice, Joseph Rice, and Daniel Rice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 167 East Broad Street, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
