Cecil Saunders Obituary

Mr. Cecil Roger Saunders of Westville, Fla., Royals Crossroad Community, passed away Friday, March 31, 2006. He was 70.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 2, in the Chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with the Rev. Terry Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Hurricane Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 1.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Darlington Baptist Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Saunders was born Feb. 17, 1936, in Holmes County, Fla., to the late Will Roger and Ruby Lee Weeks Saunders. He enjoyed farming and working with his cattle. He also loved his Sunday school class at Darlington Baptist Church where he had been a member for several years. Mr. Saunders taught school in Holmes County including Bethlehem, Prosperity, Bonifay and Ponce de Leon for 30 years.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Juanita Powell Saunders of Westville; two daughters, Rhonda Clyatt of Panama City, Fla.; Ronita Hinote and husband Tommy of DeFuniak Springs, Fla.; three grandchildren, Zachary Hinote (Letha) of Leonia, Fla.; Holli Hinote of Auburn, Kylee Clyatt of Panama City; two sisters, Mary Sue Nolen, Ann Taylor and husband Joe, all of Westville; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva, (334) 684-9999, is in charge of arrangements.
