Mabel Helen Collier Mabel Helen Collier of Cottonwood, AL, died Thursday October 14, 2010 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 79. Memorial services for Mrs. Collier will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday October 17, 2010 in the Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with Reverends Jeff Peacock and Don Tew officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 6267, Dothan, AL 36302 or Hodgesville Baptist Church Building Fund, 11190 S. County Road 33, Dothan, AL 36301. Mrs. Collier was born February 1, 1931 in Nashville, Tennessee to William Clifford and Willie Matt Dudley Gillespie. She resided in Memphis for many years before moving to Dothan in 2004. Mrs. Collier was an active member of the Red Hatters, Cottonwood Senior Center, and Hodgesville Baptist Church. Mrs. Collier was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Clinton Collier. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Ann Collier Forehand and her husband, Ashley, Cottonwood; son, George Marvin Collier and his wife, Patricia Monteil, Bartlett, TN; four grandchildren, Katie Long (Michael), Julie Forehand, Cody Collier and Jade Collier; two great grandchildren, Cynthia Quattlebaum, Collier Long; special family, Reverend Don and Becky Tew, Ava Tew and Zack Tew, Sylvia Forehand; several nieces and nephews in the Memphis area.
