Peggy Stack Obituary

Peggy Jeffcoat Stack

July 24, 1948 - November 17, 2025

Peggy Jeffcoat Stack passed away on November 17th, 2025 after a brief illness. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, John C. Stack and their son, John C. Stack, Jr., Dothan, Alabama. She is also survived by her brother, Dewey Jeffcoat, Birmingham, Alabama and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Olen and Alma Jeffcoat, Elba, Alabama, a sister, Mary Ellen Simmons, (Horace, Jr.) Hacoda, Alabama, a brother, Jerrell Jeffcoat, (Doreen) Enterprise, Alabama, and a sister, Linda Lucas, (Ray) Opp, Alabama.

Peggy was an English teacher and retired in 1999 after 30 years of enriching the lives of thousands of students. Over 20 of those years were with the Dothan City School System. When John retired from his banking career with SouthTrust Bank in 2005, they built their dream home behind the 16th green at Rocky Bayou Country Club in Niceville. For over 20 years, they enjoyed the good life with family and friends. Internment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola with Emerald Coast Funeral Home officiating. The family wishes to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff members at Fort Walton Medical Center for their incredible support and attention during this very difficult time. A very special thanks to nurse Kristie. You are an angel. The family would also like to thank Emerald Coast Hospice Care and The Manor at Bluewater for making her final days as comfortable as possible. The family will hold a private service at a later date.

Expressions of sympathy and love may be viewed and placed at www.emeraldcoastfuneralhome.com.

Dear Family

I was sad to learn of your loss but I know she is now with Jesus which should comfort us all.

I had the blessing of having her be my 12th grade English teacher. Her God gifted ability formed the foundation for God to pour out many blessings in the years that followed.

Among these years, I was privileged to work with "Doctors Without Borders" that would win the 1999 Nobel Peace Prize.

Currently, I will soon be completing my Post Hold Digging degree in Leadership with my dissertation being nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.

So has you can see she was and always will be a great influence for God and for good in a world that has too much evil.

Surely, it won't be too much longer until the Rapture so we will all be with her again real soon.

Love to you All
