Dr. Philip Joseph Howard, age 84, of Enterprise, AL passed away, Monday, May 30, 2016 at his home. Funeral services will held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 3, 2016 at St. John Catholic Church with Father Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Alabama Children's Hospital, 1600 7th Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35233 (foundation.childrensal.org). Dr. Howard was a Corpsman in the U.S. Navy and a professor at Enterprise State Junior College for 27 years. He did his undergraduate work at the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Houston. He obtained his Master's degree at Middle Tennessee State University and a Doctorate in Education at Auburn University. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Marilou Howard; his son, Edward H. Howard (Laura) Enterprise; his daughter, Kathryn Howard Eckert (Douglas) Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Conner Alexander Howard; Tyler Marshall Howard; Mary Olivia Eckert: Sophie Clare Eckert.
