Shaphan Grant

Shaphan L. Grant, a resident of Dothan, died Sunday morning, July 26, 2009, at Flowers Hospital. He was 80.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel on West Main Street with the Rev. Kyle Gatlin officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Camp Ground Cemetery (Crenshaw County) with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30-11 a.m. Tuesday prior to service time.

Mr. Grant was born July 6, 1929, in Crenshaw County and lived the early years of his life there. After graduation from Sylacauga High School he served in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Grant was a resident of Dothan since 1976 and was a charter member of Covenant United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Grant of Dothan; a son and daughter-in-law, Russ and Marisa Grant of Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren, Misty and Paula, Derek and Lindsay; four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Katlyn, Layton and Kylie.
