Thomas Murphy Obituary
Funeral services for Mr. Murphy will be 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with the Rev. Mike Grimes officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Grandview Baptist Church Building Fund, 1940 Suite 2 S. Oates St., Dothan, AL 36301.
Mr. Murphy was born Nov. 23, 1918, in Fadette to Albert Metzker and Mary Pearl Murphy. He spent most of his life in Houston County where he was in the grocery business for more than 50 years as owner and operator of Murphy's Market. Mr. Murphy was a member of Grandview Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with family and fishing.
Mr. Murphy is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Pam Murphy, and a sister-in-law, Virginia Murphy.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Murphy, Dothan; daughter, Judy Dianne Murphy, Dothan; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Tammy Murphy, Dothan, William Thomas and Elaine Murphy, Redmond, Wash.; four grandchildren, Olivia and Emily Murphy, Michael Murphy, Terri (Richard) LaCelle; great-grandson, Haden Thomas LaCelle; two brothers, Albert and Margie, Fadette, James M. Murphy, Slocomb; several nieces and nephews also survive.
