Thadeus "Ted" Barwinski

1939 - 2017

Thadeus "Ted" Hall Barwinski, of Magnolia passed away on Thursday Oct. 5, 2017 at Pinnacle Rehab in Smyrna. He was 78 years old.

Mr. Barwinski was born in Miami, Fla., on March 22, 1939 to the late Ruby Hall and Thadeus Barwinski.

He was raised in Norfolk, Va., and graduated from Norview High. He served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam and retired as Master Sergeant after 26 years. After retiring, Mr. Barwinski worked as a clerk for Hechingers, Lowes, Jonathan's Landing and had also worked at Dover Downs. Formerly, he was on the Magnolia town council and helped out as mayor, finishing the term of his friend, the late Fred Duncan. Mr. Barwinski enjoyed bowling, fishing and golfing.

Mr. Barwinski is survived by his daughters, Sharon Spruill (Daniel) of Newark, and Cindy Marie Foskey (Brian) of Bear; sister, Julia Moloney (Robert) of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Jacob, Kyle, Rachel, Gabe and Isaac, and Jane Kauchak (Norfolk) whom he said he owed a special gratitude for her loving guidance and direction, even without GPS.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 12, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Forrest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk, Va., Friday at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org.
