BEULAVILLE - Jacob Reid Mercer, age 43, of Beulaville, NC, passed away at UNC Chapel Hill Burn Center on Friday, August 8, 2025. Jacob was born on May 12, 1982, in Statesville, NC. He was the beloved son of Randy Mercer of Burlington, NC and Sandy Malone of Faison, NC. He graduated from Davie High School and attended college at UNC Greensboro and UNC Wilmington. Jacob was a gifted musician, mastering the guitar, bass guitar, and drums. He was a poet at heart, and a talented writer. He never met a stranger, and was a friend to the friendless.
In addition to his father, Randy Mercer (Suzie) and his mother, Sandy Malone (CD), Jacob is survived by his son, Benjamin Jacob Mercer of Faison, NC, whom he loved with all of his heart.
He is also survived by his grandfather, Russell F. Lanier, of Chinquapin, NC, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members and friends, who loved him, and will miss him dearly.
A funeral service will be held for Jacob on Saturday, August 23, at 2:00 pm at Cabin Original Free Will Baptist Church, 2167 Sarecta Rd, Beulaville, NC.
