Marshall Cotta Obituary

Chester Wypych, Jr. 88, of Westport, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Florence E. (Dyer) Wypych and the late Eleanor M. (Fish) Wypych.

Mr. Wypych was born in New Bedford, son of the late Czeslaw and Helen (Zagaja) Wypych and had resided in Westport since 1972. After graduating from New Bedford High School, he joined the U.S. Army. He graduated from ordinance school at Aberdeen Proving Ground in MD and served with the Military Advisory Group in Taipei, Taiwan. Mr. Wypych worked at Continental Screw Co. for 25 years then as a self-employed carpenter until retiring in 1995. He traveled by RV throughout the United States including Alaska, Canada and Newfoundland. He also enjoyed taking trips to Europe and Bermuda. He was an avid motorcyclist for 55 years. He attended Dartmouth Bible Church.

Survivors along with his wife include his 2 daughters: Katherine Wypych-Minnehan and her husband Russell of Westport and Christine Sylvia and her husband Scott of Dartmouth; his 2 step-daughters: Hope Hallett and her husband William of Dartmouth and Joyce Skinner and her husband Douglas of Milwaukee, WI; brother: Charles Wypych and his wife Joan of Acushnet; 4 grandchildren: Eleanor and Logan Minnehan, Marissa and Scott Sylvia; 3 step-grandchildren: Victoria Franco, Vanessa Morrissette and Jacob Skinner; a great granddaughter: Saphira Ceniseroz; 4 step-great grandchildren: Gavin and Grace Franco, Preston and Lacey Morrissette; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was the father of the late Sharon Wypych and brother of the late Shirley Simmons.

Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport, MA 02790 at 11:00 A.M.

Visitation will be Wednesday, from 10-11 A.M. prior to the service.

Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery.

Flowers are acceptable or memorial donations may be made to Ft. Taber Museum, 1000C Rodney French Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02744.
