Ardelle DeCredico Obituary

Ardelle Jean DeCredico Sept. 28, 1934 ~ Feb. 17, 2011 Resident of Pleasant Hill and Palm Desert, CA Ardelle Jean DeCredico passed away under the loving vigil of her family on Feb. 17, 2011. Her wit, warmth, and joie de vivre will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Her faith, her family, her friends and her loving tenderness were what defined her. She will always be remembered by her children for instilling in them her strength of character, her family values and sense of humor. Born Ardelle Housenga in Clinton, Iowa and raised in Owatonna, MN, she graduated from Owatonna High School and attended Rochester Junior College as a business major before training as a medical transcriptionist at the Mayo Clinic. In 1957, Ardelle moved to Denver, Colorado where she met and married her loving husband, Joe DeCredico. In 1968, they moved their family to Pleasant Hill. There she spent 24 years as the Chief Medical Transcriptionist at Rossmoor Medical Clinic. In 1981, she and her husband Joe launched DeCred-ico & Associates, a Northern California Food Brokerage Company. Providing both inspiration and steadfast support, Ardelle held a duel roll as CFO at DeCredico & Associates along with her employment at Rossmoor until her retirement in 1995. She then pursued her favorite passions: raising her grandchildren, watercolor painting, interior decorating, and traveling with her husband, children and grandchildren. Ardelle is survived by her loving husband of 52 years Joe; daughter Colleen Teitelbaum and her husband Ross; and grandsons Matt and Adam Teitelbaum of Englewood, CO. Three sons, Joe DeCredico, his wife Irene and granddaughters Daniella and Izzy DeCredico of Oakland, CA; Jim DeCredico, his wife Michelle and grandchildren Marcus, Alana and Kirstin DeCredico of Clayton, CA; and Jeff DeCredico, his wife Cindy and grandchildren Joey, Ava, and Lily DeCredico of Danville, CA; as well as her two great-grandchildren Alyvia and Malory DeCredico. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ellie DeCredico of Phoenix AZ; nieces, Paula Stapley and her husband Jeff, and great-niece Kaytie; Karen Mauer and her husband Brian, and great-nieces Emily and Karston of Phoenix, AZ. And, our special family friend, Greg Zeidman of Pleasant Hill. There are no words to describe our loss of my wonderful wife, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Friends and Family are invited to a memorial service and celebration of her life on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011 at 10am at Hull's Walnut Creek Chapel, 1139 Saranap Ave., Walnut Creek, CA, 94595, Phone: 925-934-5400. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to Ardelle's favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Hospital at www.stjude.org.
