Charles Hardin Obituary

Charles W. Hardin
Oct. 31, 1925 ~ Nov. 4, 2014
Resident of Brentwood
Our beloved father, Charles Winfred Hardin, lived his 89 years with dignity and honor before passing away on November 4, 2014.
Charles was born on October 31, 1925, in Sebastian County, in the Township of Diamond, Arkansas, to Earlman and Ollie Hardin. He came to California at age 16 where he later was employed as a stagehand at the Hollywood movie studios, even riding to work one day with Humphrey Bogart! He was in the Merchant Marines supplying warships and servicing Alcatraz Island during part of WW II; he was a lumberjack and contractor at Rockport in Mendocino Co. throughout the late 1940s and 1950s before moving to Brentwood in 1960 and working for and retiring from the East Contra Costa Irrigation District on October 31, 1988. He was an avid horseman competing in local and national events in the century team roping division. In 1998 he won both the State and National ACTRA Finals Team Roping Championships in his division.
Charles is survived by his loving daughters Gevona Tomlinson and husband Ed of Tracy; Charlotte Pinkston of Antioch; and Debbie Seeno and husband Joe of Arizona; and grandchildren Eddie Tomlinson Jr. and wife Suzette; Jeff and Tim Seeno; and great grandchildren Courtney Hall and Cassidy Gardner.
Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife Novella, his loving granddaughter Angela Biasi Gardner, his sister Fern Hilburn, and brother Herbert Hardin.
A Celebration of Life service attended by family and close friends was held at the Brentwood Funeral Home with interment at Union Cemetery followed by a Funeral Reception Luncheon. Charles will be dearly missed and forever loved by his family.
