Dennis Boegel Obituary

Dennis Boegel, Sr.
April 14, 1944 – Oct. 26, 2021
Resident of Livermore, CA
Dennis lost his battle with a rare Stage 4 prostate cancer. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Sharon, his son Dennis Jr, his brother Ken, and sisters Eileen Martinez (Tony) & Cindy Reed (Dan) plus numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws, and extended family. He was predeceased by his parents Ernie & Marge, his sister-in-law Pat, and his daughter Christine.
Dennis' career was in education, in which he taught thousands of students, starting at Moreau Catholic, Hayward in 1966 (Athletic Director 1968-72), then at American High, Fremont in 1974, and as counselor at Centerville Jr High, Fremont in 2001 before retiring in 2006. He coached basketball, golf, and track. Dennis came out of retirement to be assistant basketball coach at Washington High, 2008-10. He also spent time volunteering at Fremont Golf Center.
Dennis was a man of deep faith, which helped him through this most difficult time. He was a husband, father, brother, teacher, coach, and friend who gave of himself to all who knew him. Please remember Dennis and his family in your prayers.
There will be a Funeral Mass on Monday, November 15th, 10AM at St Augustine Church, Pleasanton, followed by a Burial at Holy Sepulchre, Hayward. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Dennis' name to the charity of your choice.
