Eugene Cohan Obituary

Eugene "Gene" Cohan 8/27/1918 - 7/10/2004 Gene Cohan died at his home in Pleasanton surrounded by his loving wife, their seven children and the oldest of their twelve grandchildren. Gene was born in The Bronx, New York City, NY, and lived and worked in almost every part of the world before moving his family to Pleasanton in 1967. He served in the US Army from 1942 to 1946 in the 33rd Infantry Quartermaster Co. and was a S. Sergeant when he was discharged. During his professional career he was a management executive for Transocean Airlines (TALOA), International Aircraft Services and Global Associates. Gene is survived by his wife, Nan, their children, Nancy Gar-cia-Ganan, Tom Cohan, Michael Cohan, Gene Cohan, Kathleen Brennan, Patrick Cohan, and Tim Cohan, their grandchildren, Noel Cohan, Tom Cohan, Erin Stewart, Mackenzie Cohan, Aine Garcia-Ganan, Ryan Garcia-Ganan, Caitlin Cohan, Joseph Cohan, Donald Brennan, Sarah Brennan, Alex Cohan, and Jake Cohan, Gene's brother, Arthur Cohan, and the Cohan clan "out-laws", Mary Cohan, Pablo Garcia-Ganan, Linda Cohan, Hazel Cohan, Tim Brennan, Nancy Walker, Cara Klinger and Jake Stewart. On Friday, July 16, 2004 family and friends are asked to gather at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, 3999 Bernal Ave., Pleasanton, CA, beginning at 9:30am. A Memorial Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30am. After the funeral mass Gene's cremains will be interred at St. Augustine's Cemetery, Pleasanton, CA, with military honors provided by members of Pleasanton's VFW Post 6298. Immediately following the interment all friends and family are requested to participate in a contemporary version of an Irish Wake at Century House, 2401 Santa Rita Rd., Pleasanton, CA, where Gene's life will be remembered and celebrated. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Children's Hospital Foundation, 747 52nd St., Oakland, CA 94609 or VFW Post 6298, 301 Main St., Pleasanton, CA 94566, or your local community Hospice.
