Frank Fahey Obituary

DR. FRANK M. FAHEY At his request, no services are planned. He died August 26th at his Novato residence. He was 84. Dr. Fahey was born in Seattle, Washington, and moved to the Bay Area in 1945. After receiving a B.A. at the University of Washington, he completed his PhD. in history at Stanford University in 1956. He taught history at the College of San Mateo and Caada College for 29 years, co-authoring several books on American history with his wife. Dr. Fahey enjoyed a life-long passion for reading, discussing historical and current events, following local sports teams, listening to music and spending time with his family. His wife of fifty years, Marie Fahey, preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, Jim Fahey of Arcata, daughters Sherry Zagunis of Novato and Cindy Firenzi of Scotts Valley, sister Cecile Chesley of Sacramento, and grandchildren, Tara Firenzi, Brian Firenzi, Jake Zagunis, and Danny Zagunis. Contributions are preferred to: The Frank and Marie Fahey Scholarship Fund, San Mateo County Community Colleges Foundation, 3401 CSM Drive, San Mateo, CA 94402.

I was not a history fan until I took his classes. He changed my educational world interests and perspectives. It's been 50+ years but I can still picture him and grateful he was my teacher
