I did not know Haley personally. I spoke with her just a few times on the phone as Lilja was one of my customers. She really made an impression on me though - she definitely had a special kindness and gentleness that was apparent even to people she never met face to face. I have thought of her many times since the accident and just wanted to let her family know that this lovely young lady is missed even by people she had never "met". I know the void left in your lives is unbearable at times but I pray that your memories of love and good times are sustaining you until you are reunited again in heaven.

I found out the breaking news not too long ago I am troubled to hear such sadness... I remember photography like it where yesterday always having so much fun with you . Haley, I didn't know you, but I know your stepmom, Irene - I spent two long grueling years with her at nursing school and I know your Dad. I was shocked when I heard of your accident. And I cried for your parents, your siblings, your family. They are in pain that you are not around anymore, and suffer the seeming futility of your death. But you, dear sweet Haley, are just fine. We are all going to die, we just don't talk about it in this culture. And it's not just old people who die. Why do we assume that this life is better than death - just because it's an unknown? Why should we believe that staying here is better? My beloved daughter, Tally, died of an accident 25 years ago now at the age of 3-1/2, and my dearest partner, Rich, died of gastric cancer in just 5 months, 2 months ago today. I miss them terribly but I never assume that what I'm doing here is any better than where they are or where I'm going. What I do know is that I can smile and feel them in my heart; I can ask for signs, and I can live my life just one moment at a time, fully in the present, until it's my turn to die, in honor of life and in honor of them. I am choosing now to slow down, be present to my inner consciousness, get out of my ego, out of my head, into my heart and into that quiet place where I can unite with you, Haley, with you, Tally and with you Rich - we are all one, united. So dearest Haley, I think of you and send you my energetic love and bask in the knowledge that you are happy all of you on the other side and wishing that we, who miss you on this side, would smile and enjoy every moment. I have not been able to stop thinking about you all week.

As you know this is not the first time we are going through some thing like that at our department. I don't remember if you were here when Alice lost her daughter. Now its like Alice all over again. Its so hard to bear, and I can only guess who difficult it must be for you.

I was never close to Haley, but knew her growing up my whole life from elementary to high school. She had a smile and a presence that could light up a room, I will always remember that of her. This was such a shock to hear. We have so many memories of the LaFlamme family growing up. Hayley was such a beautiful person inside and out and always knew how to make people smile and have a good time. We will always have the memories of Palomares and "pizza group" trips together.
