Kevin Ness Obituary

Kevin Jay Ness
December 31, 1954 - August 3, 2014
Resident of Oakland
Kevin Ness, 59, of Oakland passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2014. Kevin succumbed to his injuries obtained during a tragic motorcycle accident on July 30, 2014 in Reno, NV. Kevin was well known in the motorcycle industry as a Victory motorcycle enthusiast and brother to famed motorcycle builder, Arlen Ness.
Kevin was born in Oakland. He grew up in San Leandro, where he attended San Leandro High School and graduated in 1973. Kevin worked at his father's business throughout High School and at his brother Arlen's motorcycle shop as a salesman. His wit, charm, and easy-going demeanor made him an excellent salesman. Kevin was also very proud of his work at The Chapel of the Chimes, where he worked as a metal smith crafting urns for more than 30 years.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents Ervin and Elaine Ness. He is survived by his loving wife Deidre Henshaw-Ness, his son Kyle Ness (Lauren), daughter Scarlette Ness, step-daughter Tara Henshaw, and amazing granddaughter Rylee Ness. Kevin is also survived by his brother Arlen Ness and sister-in-law Beverly Ness. He leaves behind his niece and nephew Sherri Foxworthy (Craig) and Cory Ness (Christine) and their children Zachary, Max, Taylor, and Samantha.
Kevin was happiest when surrounded by family, friends and motorcycles. With his unmatched humor, enormous heart, quick one-liners and infectious personality, Kevin will be greatly missed and remembered fondly. Charitable donations can be made in Kevin's name to The George Mark Children's House 2121 George Mark Lane San Leandro, Ca 94578. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Kevin's life at The Chapel of the Chimes located at 4499 Piedmont Ave. Oakland, CA 94611 on Sunday August 24th at 10am.

I graduated high school with Kevin. I only just found out this because I was looking for information about Arlen. Kevin and I ran in different circles, but talked from time to time. He was very personable, with a good sense of humor. I was sad to read of his passing. RIP pal.

It was amazing how everyone always loved Kevin. He was sweet, funny, caring and always willing to help out. It amazes me how much Kyle is like you Kevin, and thats a good thing. See you on the other side buddy, you weren't supposed to go there this soon. Wishing all who loved him peace, he left us all wonderful memories.
