Matthew Archer Obituary

MATTHEW FRED ARCHER A Fremont resident for nearly 50 years, died at home on December 21, 2004 at the age of 85. Born Fred Arsulich on January 27, 1919 in Ironwood, Michigan, he later moved to Wisconsin. Fred played basketball for Lawrence University and Marquette University where he was named All-Time Letterman of 1947. He earned his BS from Marquette and an MBA from Harvard. Fred honorably served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Affectionately known by his family as "Papa", Fred is survived by his daughters, Mitzi Archer and Holly Kraiker; his son-in-law, Rich Kraiker and his grandsons, Matthew, Daniel and Andrew Kraiker; his daughters' mother, Pat Archer; his brother, Bill Archer of Brookfield, Wisconsin; his sister, Helen Nelson of McLean, Virginia and many nieces and nephews. A memorial mass will be held on Monday, January 17th at 9:00 a.m. at Mission San Jose, 43148 Mission Blvd., Fremont. Private interment will take place at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, CA. The loss of a Parent, regardless of the circumstances, always leaves a void in the lives of those children, who, no matter their age, see that parent as part of the matter that makes up their world. The loss of a loved one always leaves a void that never fills.
