Neil Long Obituary

Beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Neil Long was called home to the Lord, he passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family. Neil was born in the Panama Canal Zone during WWII. He moved to Hayward at a very young age with his parents Tom and Velvia Long and his other young siblings. He was a graduate of Hayward High School 1960. Neil married his lifelong love Donna in 1963, together they spent many years happily married raising and enjoying their family. Neil worked several years for local sanitary districts as an inspector in the east bay, he then became a general contractor and started his own business working on many developments and projects around the area. He also pursued other entrepreneurial business opportunities, and many personal interests. He was an inquisitive person of many talents, full of life and joy. He enjoyed the experience of life, nature, and the people in it. His valued wisdom and vast knowledge, kindness, generosity, companionship, keen conversation and great stories treasured by all; but his most enduring quality was his love which touched the hearts and positively affected those who knew him, and helped to put beauty and light into this world. He will be greatly missed, but immensely loved always. His purpose fulfilled; a life exceptionally well lived, with character, grace and dignity. He is blessed, celebrated, and will be remembered always. Neil is survived by his son Scott Long (DeeAnn) daughters Stacy Trevino (Richard) Karen Crabb (Aric). His six grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren: Erica Rice (Justin) Elyse Hayward (Cody) Marissa Trevino, Tanner, Colby, and Carson Long (Cassidy) Nora Rice, Lee Rice, Jake Hayward.
