Patricia Stelwagon Obituary

Patricia (Rooney) Stelwagon Resident of San Jose 1941 - 2010 Passed away October 21, 2010 in San Jose. Patricia (Pat) is survived by her husband Frank Stelwagon, brothers Mike Rooney and Tim Rooney, sisters Judy Sellers and Colleen Heaps, 3 nephews and one niece and 4 grand nephews and 4 grand nieces. Pat graduated from Alhambra Union High School in Martinez, California, earned her B.A. Degree at Sacramento State and her Masters at University of Alaska. Pat taught at Martinez Junior High, Kodiak Junior High (Kodiak, Alaska), in 1972 Pat and Frank returned to San Jose and Pat started teaching students with learning disabilities in the Berryessa Union School District (San Jose) became an elementary school principal, middle school principal, Deputy Superintendent, retiring in 2001 as Interim Superintendent. Pat then taught part time with San Jose State University (teaching students earning their MA degree and administrative credential) retiring in June 2010. Services and interment were private. Donations can be made in Patricia's memory to Hospice of the Valley or the Berryessa Education Foundation.

I just heard about Pat's passing. I got to know Pat when I was a parent in the Berryessa school district. I served on many committees with Pat and liked and respected her very much. My children are grown (in their 30's) and we have relocated to Central Oregon, but I will never forget Pat and what a wonderful educator she was. My heartfelt condolences to the family,

There wasn't ever a better older sister. Pat had so many wonderful traits, way too many to mention. But her compassion for others, her tremendous teaching abilities and her love and devotion to education singled her out as one tremendous individual! I will miss you Pat....say Hello to mom & dad for me. Love you, Mike
