He is survived by his sons Nikolaus and Jake; wife Lucia; parents Kathryn and Robert La Point Sr.; sister Kristina; in-laws Franco and Domenica Maramonte; sisters-in-law Rosa and Mirna; and brothers-in-law Tony and Marco. May 1, 2010

Dear Bob & Kathy, Kittie and I were vacationing in the mid-west when we received the news of Robbie's passing. Let me say our vacation ended at that point. Our hearts go out to you at this time and we are praying for God's comforting hand. I remember coaching Robbie at soccer and even then he was the perpetual jokester, the team seemed to revolve around him. I also thought of the fun times we had camping and Robbie always seemed to keep the other kids entertained. Robbie left some great footprints behind, they were big footprints and will be hard to fill. We love you guys.

This news brought me great sadness. I knew "Robbie" from our days together as "HARD" guards. If ever you were down, he was the one to put a smile on your face or make you laugh so hard it brought you to tears.
To the LaPoint family, his wife and children, I wish you strength in this time of incredible saddness. Remember the great times. I'm sure there were many. May you find solace in your memories of him.

I was so very sorry to learn this morning of Sgt. Robert LaPoint's passing. The first thing that came to my mind... was those beautiful eyes and smile. I remember being on the CVHS PTA Board that spproved the funds to buy the high tech bike that LaPoint loved to ride through town. As the secretary at CVE back in 2000 and on, he'd come riding up to the office proudly on that bike.

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

I'll always remember Robbie for his outgoing nature, his leadership ability and talents. He was one of my best student editors ever and a terrific SRO.

Lucia and family,
I don't know if you remember us, Donna, Larry, Sarah & Heidi. We lived across the street in San Lorenzo while you were growing up. Although we haven't been in touch, each of us was deeply saddened to hear of your husband's passing. My father was also a police officer and it sounds like your husband was a very good officer and you and your children should be proud. It is the hope of our entire family that someday the the memories you have will replace your tears with warm smiles.

Hold each other and keep strong.

Rob was an amazing person, as a friend and a Sgt. You could go to him for anything and he would be there. He could tell you the policies off the top of his head, but most of all he backed everyone that worked with him and could be counted on for anything. He was the a great cop, he gave countless to the things he loved like training Aron and His quick wit comments made everyone around laugh. He He will be greatly missed and always loved. My thoughts and prayers are with his boys and family.
