Roy Francis Fouche born in San Leandro Ca. on July 21, 1921. Died December 7, 2013. Sixth Great grandson to Hana Boone, sister of American Hero Daniel Boone of Tennessee. Great grandson of California Pioneer Mathew Harbin who explored California with Kit Carson.
Married to Ann Allocco of San Leandro Ca. Father of Robert Fouche of Fair Oaks, Tecla Marshall of San Leandro, Renee Fouche Gateley of Seattle and Leslie Fouche Munoz of Placerville.
Grandfather of Patricia Felton of San Leandro, Debra Walsh of Citrus Heights, Ann Gateley and Patrick Gateley of Seattle WA. He had four great grandchildren.
Roy attended Fremont High School and was a member of the Newspaper Boys Union, selling papers on the corner of Fairfax and Foothill Blvd. in Oakland Ca. during the 1930s
He served as a Torpedo man 2nd Class aboard the USS Oakland. Served in nine major sea battles in WWII. He was the last of five brothers who all fought in the Pacific during WWII. He follows in death his four brothers Ben Fouche, Carl Fouche, Lee Fouche and Robert Fouche. He was aboard the USS Oakland next to the USS Missouri when the Japanese surrendered in 1945.
He was a retired carpenter and 60 year member of Carpenters Local 713 in Hayward Ca. Son of Ben Fouche a member of Pile Drivers Local 34. He joined Local 36 in 1952.
After working 22 years with his tools, he was elected Business Agent in 1975 and then in 1979 was appointed Director of Organizing for the Bay Counties District Council of Carpenters until his retirement in 1989.
Roy was a member of the Foothill Sportsmens Club, and the Native Sons of the Golden West. He believed in family the union and the fraternity of men.
His ashes will be cast upon the sea.
