David Alexander, Obituary

David "Buster" Alexander, Sr., 86, of Monticello, Fla. passed on Sunday, March 23, 2025. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday at New Bethel AME Church, with Interment in the Church Cemetery. Viewing-visitation is 4-6 p.m. Friday at TILLMAN OF MONTICELLO (850-997-5553).
Mr. Alexander was Jefferson County native and had worked for Simpson Nurseries for over 65 years.
His beloved wife, Essie Mae Gallon Alexander, passed on Jan. 25, 2025, after more than 66 years of marriage.
He was a devoted member of New Bethel and had served as a Steward Trustee and in numerous other positions as needed.
Survivors include his children: David Alexander, Jr., Robert (Velda) Alexander, Marie Alexander and Carol A. (Darrell) Hall; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; god-daughter, Ashley Breedlove; sisters: Mary Hagan, Julia (Willie) Walker, Barbara (Willie) Clyde, Betty Grier and Shirley Walton; brothers: Ronald Alexander, Darrin (Nasreen) Alexander, John Grier; sisters-in-law: Mary Feacher, Sadie Thomas, Louise Gallon and Evelyn Hagan; brother-in-law, Frank Howard; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Also preceding Mr. Alexander in death were his parents, John Alexander and Estella Ford Hagan; daughter-in-law, Rene Anderson Alexander; brothers: Julius Harrison, Sr., Reverend Willie E. Hagan and Willie Thomas.
