Edward Assad Obituary

Edward Gary "Eddie" Assad sadly succumbed to his internal suffering of Parkinson's disease on Jan. 21, 2023. Eddie was born in Brooklyn, N. Y., on June 26, 1954. The Assad family moved to Monticello, Fla., when Eddie was 11. He was in the first class to graduate from Aucilla Christian Academy, which his mother, Iris Assad, was instrumental in starting. Eddie married his revered wife, Risa Autrey-Assad, on Dec. 1, 1979, in Coconut Grove, Fla. He had many talents and was meticulous in all of his accomplishments. Many will remember him as a phenomenally creative pianist.
Eddie was preceded in death by his mother, Iris Stella Assad and, recently, his father, Edward Assad. Surviving relatives include his wife, Risa Autrey-Assad; brother, Richard Assad; sisters, Donna Lamont (William) and Susan Lynn Assad; nephews, Joshua Assad (Suzanne) and Wyatt Lamont; niece, Lisa Estelle Hughes (Chad); great nephews, Cruz and Kane Assad; aunt, Gloria Wilburth; and cousins John Wilburth, Laura Boss, Linda Donley (daughter, Willa) and Peter Rossi. A special mention and thanks to my sister-in-law and cherished friend, Karen Thomas; Andrew and wife, Cassie Fischer, for all their support and kindness; and Casey Gruber, who cared for Eddie and was very fond of him.
In lieu of flowers, Eddie would be honored with a donation to The Parkinson's Foundation, The American Parkinson Disease Association or a charity of your choice.
The Assad and Lamont families would like to thank all of you for the outpouring of love, condolences and support.
