He is preceded in death by his father, Carroll Kampa; daughter, Megan Payne; nephew, Kristopher Kampa.
Chip is survived by his wife, Michelle (Daufelt) Kampa; daughter, Mallory (Lucas) Koosmann; sons, Joshua Payne, Jacob (Charlotte) Koosmann, and James Koosmann; grandchildren, Alex Lutz, Makayla Langstaff, Natalee Daleiden, Teegan Daleiden, and Dellaray Ward; godchildren, Michael Kampa and Anna Gerszewski; mother, Caroline Kampa; siblings, Mary (Bud) Wright, Steve (Diana) Kampa, Gregory (Paula) Kampa, Debbie (Art) Olson, Sharon Kampa, and Kathleen (Scott) Frost; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Chip considered himself 'damn lucky' after 27+ years marriage and 42+ years of sobriety. He was proud to know, and work with, his friend of over 55 years, Wayne Milinkovich. Chip was a hunter and fisherman and loved being out in nature. He loved a good chit chat and always had a story to tell, especially about fishing, hunting and especially his grandchildren. Peace comes knowing he passed away doing what he loved. He will be missed by all.
A Celebration of Chip's life will be at 12:30PM on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Dare's Funeral Home, 805 Main St., Elk River, with visitation starting at 11:30AM.
