Stephen S. Shoemaker, 75, of Elkhart, passed away on Sept. 18, 2024. Steve was born in Anderson, Indiana, to Robert and Catharine Shoemaker on Jan. 8, 1949. Steve married Vicki (Perkins) Shoemaker on Aug. 28, 1971, at the Church of the Brethren, in Anderson.
Steve attended Indiana University, Kelly School of Business, in Bloomington, Indiana, and was a member of an honorary fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi. Steve spent many years in the workforce as credit manager for Bayer and Crown International.
When Steve was not at work, he loved to collect model cars, listen to the Beatles, do yardwork, and cheer on his alma mater of Indiana University. Steve also loved to take care of his cats and loved them dearly. Steve was also an active member of Faith United Methodist Church.
Steve is survived by his wife of 53 years, Vicki Shoemaker of Goshen, Indiana; sons, David Shoemaker of South Bend, Indiana; Brian (Molly) Shoemaker of State College, Pennsylvania; granddaughter Autumn Shoemaker; sister, Karen (John) Kane of Goshen, Indiana; and his two cats, Mika and Dexter. Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Catharine Shoemaker, and step-mother, Helen Shoemaker. Stephen's humor and wit will be dearly missed by many.
Visitation will be held from 1 to -3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, at Faith United Methodist Church, 22045 C.R. 18, Goshen, where a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., officiated by Pastor John Hogsett.
Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd, Elkhart, IN, 46514, will be assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
