Poe's grandfather, A.B. Poe, opened El Paso's first Chrysler dealership in 1928, and the family has operated dealerships since.
The Dick Poe family of dealerships currently sells Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Scion, Ram and Toyota vehicles.
Poe was 81.

I saw Dick Poe at Basset Center when I was little. He was with a Spanish girl in a wheel chair at the eatery. She got better. I saw her older without the wheelchair at McAlister's Deli. My mother knew them. Thank you Jesus. Amen 2021

It saddened me to hear of the passing of Dick Poe. He was a good friend and business associate of my dad, Bo Crowell, as were my grandfather, D.C. Crowell and Dick's father, A.B. Poe in the early days. The family tree still stands strong for Dick Poe. May the reflection of his love and contributions to El Paso reflect on his family in the years to come. Mr. Poe was a friend of Harvest Christian Center. When I would speak to him he was always very gracious and kind, a man who loved El Paso. I also appreciated his reputation as a good business man with proper ethics. I was saddened to hear of his passing but grateful to have known him. My late husband, George, and Dick were fraternity brothers and Dick was always there to help in an emergency when George's handicapped vehicle was "out of commission".
