MICHAEL HUTSON

1958 - 2015

Michael Jenkins Hutson passed away at home in El Paso, Texas on November 26, 2015, at age 57. He is survived by his wife Lorenia Calderón Hutson, his children Mike Hutson (Patricia), Melissa Hutson, and Memo Hutson; his brothers Eric Hutson (Lori) and Steve Hutson (Jayne); his brothers/sisters-in-law; and his numerous nieces and nephews. He was born in Frankfurt, Germany on March 1, 1958, the youngest child of Harry and Ingrid Hutson. He graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a double major in Business and German, and later received a law degree with honors from the University of Texas at Austin. Michael was an avid genealogist and historian, serving as a member of the Huguenot Society of South Carolina and the South Carolina Historical Society. He also served as president of the El Paso County Historical Society from 2004 to 2006. Michael assisted director Viviana Garcia Besné with his research on the history of the Calderón family and film empire, as well as the history of theaters in El Paso, which Ms. Besné used in her acclaimed documentary "Perdida." As a Kern Place resident, he was an active member of the Kern Place Association and served as president multiple times. Michael began his legal career in El Paso at the Grambling & Mounce law firm in 1985, and later with attorneys Francis Ainsa and Michael Ainsa, founded the Ainsa Hutson LLP law firm, where he worked from 2001 until his death. Graveside services will be held at a later date near Charleston, South Carolina, where he will be buried alongside his parents. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
