Armin Enke Obituary
Armin was born Feb. 5, 1925, in St. Louis, to William Enke and wife Lydia, nee Pietraschke. He served his country overseas in Germany, from 1944 to 1946. He fought in central Europe and received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon. He also received the Bronze Battle Star, Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was life member of V.F.W. Post 6133. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in excavating for many years and at MFA in Owensville. He enjoyed deer hunting. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ of Bem.
His survivors include one son, Dennis Enke and Rachel Bethel, St. Clair; one daughter, Karen Willimann and husband Gary, Rosebud; two brothers, Art Enke and wife Erma, Owensville, and Paul Enke and wife Sharon, St. Peters; one sister, Mildred "Mickey" Treece and husband Donald, Cuba, Mo.; and two granddaughters, Shelby Enke and Isabelle Enke.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Beulah Rutz; and two brothers, Raymond Enke and Donald "Duke" Enke.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 21, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home, Owensville, with a V.F.W. ceremony at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 22, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Heather Arcovitch officiating.
Burial, with full military honors, will be at St. John's U.C.C. Cemetery at Bem.
The Enke family is being served by Gottenstroeter Funeral Home, Owensville.
