Arthur S. Hulsey

- 1964 - 2012 -

Arthur "Art" Sherwood Hulsey, 47, Robertsville, departed this life in Washington Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012.

Mr. Hulsey was born in St. Louis Nov. 25, 1964, the son of the Rev. Charles Sherwood Hulsey and wife Martha Leon, nee Allen.

On July 16, 1988, he was united in marriage to Melody Dawn Courtway and three children came to bless the union.

Mr. Hulsey is survived by his wife, Melody Hulsey, Robertsville; his mother, Martha Hulsey, Robertsville; three children, Nicole, Shelly and Arthur Jacob "A.J." Hulsey, all of Robertsville; two grandchildren, Ma'liah Hulsey Armstrong and Nakya Hulsey Pillado, both of Robertsville; his parents-in-law, Mary Birmingham, Robertsville, and Raymond "Shorty" Courtway and wife Loraine, Union; two brothers, Dwight Allen and companion Stacey Almo, Villa Ridge, and Mark Hulsey, Robertsville; one sister, Belinda Armstrong and husband Dewey, St. Louis; three godchildren, Bianca Courtway, Union, and Kayla and Zach Courtway, both of Cuba, Mo.; brothers- and sisters-in-law; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and -nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, the Rev. Sherwood Hulsey.

Mr. Hulsey was a Christian and past member of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Villa Ridge.

For most of his working career, Mr. Hulsey was a self-employed excavator, owning and operating Hulsey Excavating, Robertsville. He was always working, whether it was at his excavating business or cutting wood.

Mr. Hulsey had many pastimes and interests but especially liked riding his motorcycles or spending time on his boat. He loved the outdoors and also was quite the storyteller.

Nothing made Mr. Hulsey happier than spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren, and all the precious memories they created will be forever cherished by them all.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 7, at Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Villa Ridge, with the Rev. John Moore officiating.

Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Villa Ridge.

Memorials to the family are preferred.

The family was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair.
