Mark Feldmann Obituary

Mark Alan Feldmann, 72, Dutzow, passed away at his home Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025.

Mark was born July 5, 1952, in Washington, Missouri, to Donald Feldmann and Rosemary (nee Poepsel) Feldmann.

Mark received his education at St. Vincent de Paul School in Dutzow and graduated from St. Francis Borgia High School in Washington in 1970. Mark continued his education at East Central College for two years and then transferred to University of Missouri-Rolla, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1974. Mark was united in marriage to Lou Ann Holdmeyer on Oct. 18, 1980, at St. Francis Borgia Church in Washington. The couple initially made their home in Washington and moved to Dutzow in 1992. Their marriage was blessed with two children.

Mark enjoyed a successful career as a civil engineer for many years. For the majority of his career, he was employed at Buescher, Frankenberg & Associates and finished his career working at Buescher, Ditch & Associates. He retired in 2019.

Mark was an active member of his community and loved sports, especially baseball. He played on many teams and leagues throughout the course of his life. In earlier years, he played semi-professional baseball with the Dutzow Travelers, played roller hockey at the local roller-skating rink, and played ice hockey in the winter on frozen sloughs and ponds. Later in life, Mark continued his love of sports by playing recreational softball, co-ed volleyball, hunting and golfing. Mark was a member of the Dutzow Community Club and was an active parishioner at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Dutzow, where he was a member of Knights of Columbus. He loved crossword puzzles, trivia, touring the countryside in his Miata, and debating friends and family on many topics.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Rosemary (nee Poepsel) Feldmann; his parents-in-law, Robert "Bob" and Theola (nee Hillermann) Holdmeyer; one sister-in-law, Judy (nee Holdmeyer) Garrett; and his Godson, Ian von Brendel.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 45 years, Lou Ann Feldmann, Dutzow; one son, Nick Feldmann and wife Erin, Overland Park, Kansas; one daughter, Laura McDonald and husband Luke, Ballwin; four grandchildren: Miles Feldmann, Clara Feldmann, Mac McDonald, and Lucy McDonald; two sisters: Debbie Kelley and husband Jim, Union, and Peggy Feldmann, Valley Park; three brothers: Dan Feldmann and wife Michele, Washington, Joe Feldmann and wife Shari, Krakow, and Rick Feldmann, Washington; two sisters-in-law: Peggy Krampe and husband Paul, Washington, and Mary Kay von Brendel, Lake Ozark; two brothers-in-law: David Holdmeyer and wife Donna, Washington, and Jeff Garrett, Wildwood; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 4, at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Dutzow with Fr. Dennis Doyle officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
