Betty Sonney Obituary
Loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother
Betty J. Thornton Sonney, age 80, of Greene Township, peacefully left this earthly life to her eternal heavenly life, on Monday, April 7, 2014 at Twinbrook Medical Center.
She was born on December 18, 1933, in Erie, the daughter of the late, Burton and Hazel Jones Thornton. She loved her family first and foremost, and also enjoyed ceramics, art and crafts, flowers, gardening, garage sales, camping, her dogs, feeding the birds, and her idol, Elvis. She was a member of Greenfield Baptist Church, and the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her precious granddaughter, Addison I. Sonney.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dale N. Sonney, four daughters: Juanita McStraw of Erie, Nancy Kowle of Erie, Lynn Hunt (Scott) of Millcreek Township, Denise Sonney of Corry, five sons: Dale Sonney (Shelly) of Greene Township, Gene Sonney of Corry, Bryer Sonney (Amy) of Lawrence Park, Tye Sonney of Minnesota, Brady Sonney (Kari) of Erie, 18 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Shirley Nietupski (Tom) of Greenfield Township.
Friends may call at the Greenfield Baptist Church, 9028 Williams Rd., North East, Pa., on Friday, April 11 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., and again on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service there at 11:00 a.m., conducted by the Rev. David Waldo. Interment will be in Greenfield Baptist Church Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lions Club of Greene Twp., c/o Greene Twp. Municipal Building, 9333 Tate Rd., Erie, PA 16509.
