Edward Dick Obituary

Hon, Dad, Papa, Uncle Ed/Eddie

Edward Lee Dick, 63, of Summit, was the youngest son of one of the fifteen children of the late Charles T. and Laura Black Dick. He was born in Roaring Springs, Pa., on March 22, 1951. He died on February 22, 2015.

He married the love of his life Audrey A. Aljoe Dick on April 16, 1977, they have two precious, wonderful sons: Christopher L. and Steven M. (Haley Frisch) Dick.

His granddaughter, Aubree K. Dick, was the biggest joy in his life, she gave him strength when he was feeling weak and so much love, kisses and hugs, that her Papa could always want more.

Ed is survived by his brothers: James (Fern) of Duncansville, Pa., Kenneth (Carol) of Waterford, Pa., and his sisters: Janet (Charles) Brown of Girard and Judy (Daniel) Bruno of Kettering, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by brothers: Theodore, Thomas, Ralph, Chauncey, Andrew, William, Lawrence, Richard, sisters: Betty Baker and June Dick, and brother-in-law, Robert Aljoe.

He is also survived by his nephew Bud-Charles (Joyce) Baker who was more like a brother to him and three nephews that were like his own sons, Aaron (Abbey) and Andy (Erin) Dick and Joey (Jodie) Bruno. His Goddaughters: Michelle (Martin) Jahnke and Marilyn (Jim) Carroll, Godson, Michael Aljoe, brother-in-law, Don Aljoe (Rose), sisters-in-law, Carol Dick, Patty Dick, Mary Weaver, Mary Ann (Jack) Hawk and Marilyn Aljoe, forty plus nieces and nephews, and an overwhelming amount of great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

Ed retired from General Electric after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Summit United Methodist Church, Summit Lions Club for over 15 years, he served as a Lion Tamer and Lion Twister; and a life member of the Siebenbuerger Club. Ed was a one of the Pittsburgh Steelers' biggest fans, but he also supported his son's teams: Cincinnati Bengals and Tennessee Titans (even when they played his team). He enjoyed playing cards with his buddies at Blessed Sacrament once a month, and with anyone who wanted to have a good card game. He loved to make things with wood, such as wishing wells, hoping to win at the casino. Ed loved to spend precious time with his boys and all family members, he enjoyed all of the family picnics and reunions and will be deeply missed by all that knew him. Ed also enjoyed traveling on many family vacations, with family and to see family, in other parts of Pennsylvania, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Thursday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., including a prayer service by the Summit Township Lions Club at 8:30 p.m.. Funeral services will be held there on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m., and burial will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.

The Lord is my shepherd;
I have everything I need.
He lets me rest in fields of green grass
and leads me to quiet pools of fresh water.
He gives me new strength.
He guides me in the right way,
As he has promised.
Even if that way goes through deepest darkness,
I will not be afraid, Lord,
Because you are with me!
Your shepherd's rod and staff keep me safe.
