Even though we never knew Mr. Kanzius, we want to extend our deepest sympathy to his family. It is sad that he did not live to see his dream come true, but he has everything in the works and we truly believe that it won't be long before his invention will save many lives. You must be very proud of him. It was so nice to see how humble he was. He didn't brag or draw attention to himself. Mr. Kanzius was truly an angel and we believe he will still be overseeing his project until it comes to fruition. May God comfort you in this time of sorrow and may you also find comfort in the memories you have of this great man.

One cannot meet someone, converse with them, befriend them and become friends with them, be inspired by them, spend countless hours working with and in support of them and their dream, be corrected by them, laugh with them, cry for them, and most of all fast and pray for them, without developing a deep and abiding love for them. And when they die, it is excruciatingly painful, not because prayers are not answered, but because the sorrow is the price of love, albeit a price well worth paying to love a cherished friend and colleague. Such has been my experience with John. John, I promise you I will never rest until your dreams come true, and we well know just how close that is.

Mary Ann & Family - I regretted learning of John's death upon my return to Erie. He fought a valiant battle with such a dreaded disease. His efforts to find an answer - a cure for others plagued by cancer - are to be commended beyond words. I understand the loss you feel. John and Frank shared many pleasant moments on the golf course in the earlier years of life and now they are finally relieved from their pain and suffering on this earth. I am sorry for the loss you and your family has experienced and offer my most sincere sympathy. Treasure the special memories you each have. They are now your greatest gift. Carol Vogt - Erie, PA

My deepest and heartfelt sympathy to Mary Ann and your girls. John was a wonderful boss and a good friend. I still remember that every time there was a seemingly unsolvable problem at WJET, the conversation always ended with the phrase..."We better call John, he will fix it!!" So many times I have thought that I must get John's E-mail address and let him know how proud we all are of him. Sadly. I guess that time has passed. We will always remember John's brilliance, humor and generous nature. He will certainly live on as his much needed cancer research goes forward.

To the Kanzius Family:
We extend our deepest sympathies and are sorry John did not live to see the human trials of his invention.
I spoke to John several times in recent months about speaking to the Y-Men's Club about his invention. I also enjoyed playing golf many times with John at Lake Shore.
He was a remarkable man whose dedication and efforts in finding a cure for cancer will be appreciated and remembered long into the future. His great legacy. May it give you comfort in the days to come.

Kanzius Family,
I was very shocked to see the passing of your loved one on the news. I have never met John or the family. I have only been following his great invention for a cure of cancer on the news. He was truely a loving gentleman, friend, father, and grandpa from what I've read and heard. God has a plan for all of us. We all know what Sir John Kanziu's was. His commitment to this City of Erie will alway's be remembered to us all, and we will all be proud to say that was a man from Erie. May God Bless all the family and friends of John Kanzius. My Deepest sympathy.
This is a poem I wrote many years ago in my younger days. It reminds me of the kind of person John must have been.
Some People, Special Blessing's
Some people just know right from the start, how to bring joy to another's heart.
Some people just know how to love and to give, and they do such nice things every day that they live.
Their alway's a blessing where ever
they go, It's a sweet way of life that some people just know.
Bless you John for being so special.

To the family of John Kanzius,
May you take comfort in knowing that many join you in mourning the passing of an incredible man. Our 19 year old daughter was diagnosed with a rare form of Ovarian cancer in 2004 during her 1st year in college. She went through chemo and lost all of her beautiful blond hair. 3 years later she was married and she and her groom donated money to the John Kanzius Cancer Fund in lieu of favors. She always hoped to meet John one day. We are so saddened by his death and the fact that he wasn't able to feel the joy of seeing his invention actually save a life. We pray that his legacy will live on and his family will soon experience that joy for him. May God comfort you and give you peace. Sincerely, Jack and Connie Briggs

My deepest sympathies go to his family. I didn't know John Kanzius but have wished for many years that I could have met him. Having a son who is a cancer survivor and family members who have succumbed to cancer, I hope that the research and development of his breakthrough cancer treatment will continue. I am so glad that he was able to reach so many and to do so much in his life.

Our deepest sympathy to all of Mr. Kanzius' family, friends and colleagues. As a medical professional who has been touched by cancer several times, I will echo what so many others have already said. John was an inspirational hero to many of us. His research and accomplishments will continue to thrive and grow in our community and country. It is our hope that someday our children/grandchildren will not have to face a cancer diagnosis with the fear and dread that we have had to face. John will be greatly missed but he has set into motion a hope and optimism that we will conquer this monster once and for all. Those of us lucky enough to have met him and admired him are forever grateful for the amazing legacy he has left us.
