John Oakley Obituary

John G. Oakley Proudly Served and Retired from the U.S. Air Force John G. Oakley, age 63 of Albion, Pa. went home to be with The Lord on Monday morning, January 15, 2007. John was born in Queens, New York on May 25, 1943, the son of the late Grant B. and Helen (Kraemer) Oakley. John proudly served and retired after 13 years of service with the U.S. Air Force where he served during the Vietnam War. After retiring, he worked at several places in Texas as a security guard. John was a member of the St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church in Albion, Pa. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by an infant daughter. John is survived by his wife, Wendy Sue (Heaton) Oakley, whom he married on June 15, 1984. He is also survived by a son, Christpher J. Oakley and his wife, Shaunna of Bloomington, Minn.; and two daughters: Maria E. Zinsmeister and her husband, Mike and Pamela D. Oakley both from San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by a sister, Mary Ellen Hutchinson of Stanton Island, N.Y.; and four grandchildren, Kieran Oakley, Ryan, Ian, and Eryn Zinsmeister. He is also survived by his former wife, Carolyn Oakley also of San Antonio, Texas. No calling hours will be observed. A Mass Reading will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at the St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church in Albion, Pa. at 10 a.m. Celebrated by Father John Fischer. Full Military Honors Graveside Service will be held at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas on Friday, January 19, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. Arrangements were handled by the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home, East Springfield, Pa.
