Albert Kane Obituary

Funeral services with military honors for Mr. Albert M. Kane, age 73, of Co. Rd. 79 S., Eufaula, will be held Thursday, Feb. 10, at 4 p.m. at Kent Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Gus Howerton will officiate with eulogies delivered by family and friends. Kent Funeral Home of Eufaula will be directing. Visitation for Mr. Kane was held Sunday, Feb. 6 from 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Kane died Friday, Feb. 4, at his home after a lengthy illness.

Born June 27, 1937 in Collinswood, N.J., Mr. Kane was the son of the late Samuel M. and Margaret Elizabeth Ogden Kane. He had lived in Eufaula since Feb. 1982 coming from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and attended White Oak United Methodist Church. Mr. Kane served in the US Air Force from 1958 until 1962. He worked for 30 years with the U.S. Postal service and the last ten of those here in Eufaula. He was a founding father of the Baker Hill Volunteer Fire Dept. to whom Gov. George Wallace called to personally inform him of grant money he was making available to the rescue squad. He attended Sparks Community College and completed courses to become an EMT. Mr. Kane worked numerous part time jobs as a security guard including Sparks College, Clayton DHR, and CP Chicken Plant.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret R. Kane; three daughters, Donna Lynn (Joseph B.) Grier, Samantha Elizabeth Kane Bynum and Mary Allison Kane (Steven A.) Watford, all of Eufaula; two sisters, Florence Hunt, N.J., and Diana Lynn Borden, Dothan; eight grandchildren, Tiffany Lynne Grier Norman, Joseph Kane Grier, Ashley Nicole Kane, Shaun Allyn Bynum, Preston Blake Bynum, Callie Rose Watford, Angel Grace Watford and Christabelle Faith Watford.

The family graciously accepts green plants or memorial donations to Wiregrass Hospice, 831 W. Washington St., Eufaula, Al. 36027
