Cyril T. Noel

MCSHERRYSTOWN Cyril T. "Moe" Noel, 82, entered into God's eternal care, Saturday, August 25, 2007 at York Hospital, with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of Frances L. (Groft) Noel, his wife of 60 years. Born December 18, 1924, in McSherrystown, he was the son of the late Bernard and Sallie (Sipling) Noel. Cyril was retired from Hanover Foods Corporation in Hanover after 47 years of service. He also served on the Board of Directors at Hanover Foods. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during WWII. He was the former Mayor of McSherrystown, serving from 1990 to 2005. He was also a former council member of the McSherrystown Borough. He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in McSherrystown, McSherrystown Home Association, New Oxford Social Club and the McSherrystown Knights of Columbus Surviving in addition to his wife are six children and their spouses, Rebecca L. Grove and husband Dennis, David M. Noel and wife Donna, Michael T. Noel and his wife Sara, Patricia M. Groft and fianc<6> Michael Salloom all of Hanover, Thomas E. Noel and wife Michelle of Pittsburgh, and Philip L. Noel and wife Patrice of East Berlin; 14 grandchildren; and nine greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Maryann Noel; two brothers, Earl F. Noel and Bernard S. Noel; and a sister, Marie Wells. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Annunciation Catholic Church, McSherrystown, with the Rev. Lawrence W. Sherdel and the Rev. Lawrence J. McNeil concelebrating . Burial will be in Annunciation Cemetery, McSherrystown. Friends and relatives will be received Tuesday 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, with prayers recited at 8 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be: Bryan Noel, Mitchell Noel, Tyson Noel, Corey Neiderer, Doug Noel, Kellie Turner, and Jaime Cool. Memorial contributions in honor of Cyril, may be made to the Annunciation Church Memorial Fund, 26 N. 3rd Street, McSherrystown, PA. 17344.
