Donna Nicklow Obituary

GLEN ROCK Donna J. (Meckley) Nicklow, 51, a child of God, died Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at York Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife of Jon R. Nicklow, with whom she celebrated a 17th Wedding Anniversary on October 10, 2014. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ, 27 Manchester St., Glen Rock, with her pastor, the Rev. Michael E. Campbell and the Rev. John L. Trout officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Donna was born on March 3, 1964 in York, a daughter of Donald E. and Mary Louise (Rummel) Meckley of Hanover. She graduated from Susquehannock High School in 1982 and from Penn State University, Main Campus, in 1986, where she was a member of Kappa Tau Alpha, the Journalism Honor Society Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society and the Alpha Lambda Honor Society. She worked in Marketing for most of her life, having been employed in Marketing with Sonnewald Natural Foods, Spring Grove, with the Strand Capitol Performing Arts Center, York, where she also assisted in getting films to show at the Capitol Theater and prior to that, with the York Newspaper Company and the former Free Press paper. She was a member of the Faith Evangelical Congregational Church, York, (Bair Station). She loved music and she played bass guitar with the musical group, "Caution". Besides her husband and parents, she leaves two Goddaughters, Emily and Allison Grothey. She was predeceased by a brother, Douglas S. Meckley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, 27 Manchester St., Glen Rock, PA 17327 or to Faith Evangelical Congregational Church, 833 Stoverstown Road, York, Pa 17408.
