John Giesey Obituary

John J. Giesey HANOVER John J. Giesey, 82, of Hanover, entered into God's eternal care, 9:35 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at The Brethren Home Community, New Oxford. He was the husband of Rebecca E. (Null) Giesey, who died Feb. 24, 1988. Born in Hanover on April 25, 1921, he was the son of the late Clayton and Amelia Frock Giesey. Mr. Giesey retired as crane operator for the Pennsylvania Railroad in October 1968 after 25 years of service. Prior to that he was employed at Little's Dairy and had been a trapper for many years, becoming a partner in Null's Fur Exchange. During World War II, he served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He is survived by two sons, Ronald Giesey of Hanover and John Giesey Jr. of Silver Spring, Md., and three grandchildren, Joshua Giesey, Andrew Giesey and Tricia Giesey. His service of remembrance will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery. The Rev. Julian E. Hall will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund of The Brethren Home Foundation, P.O. Box 128, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA 17350.
