Salt of the earth was my friend Joe. I met Joe when I arrived in Mannheim, Germany in 1987, my first duty station. Joe was that seasoned soldier who lived off post, spoke the language and had a car. He took me under his wing and we became fast friends. One memory was Joe introducing me to the German Autobahn in his BMW, you know his grin matched his speed. Although we had only seen each other one time since those days we managed to keep in touch throughout the years. My how I will miss visiting and laughing with him. My thoughts and prayers are with all of his family. Rest in peace my friend.

Just wanted to give my condolences and caring thoughts to Joe's wife, children and family. The loss of someone who was a such a great family head and provider is hard on many. I knew Joe when he lived on Fair Ave in Hanover, 50 years ago. He was a real good friend of mine. He used to help me on my paper route. I lived 2 doors away. I haven't seen him since he moved away. Reading his life's story, I was so impressed by all he accomplished! Lived an exciting life and more importantly, left behind a great family to carry on. That is what's important for all of us. Once again, so sorry for the grief the family is feeling at this time. You all are in my prayers.....

Our thoughts and prayers are with Joe's family. We were neighbors when we were young and lived on Fair Avenue in Hanover. We lost touch after his family moved but we are glad he led an exciting life and enjoyed life as well. May God's love and your memories bring you comfort and peace.

Shirl and family, so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. I have fond memories of him at Spring Grove schools, especially his smile. Sympathy to your family.
