Laverne K. Lawrence

New Oxford - Laverne K. Lawrence, 92, died Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at the Brethren Home Community, New Oxford. He was the husband of Helen Kathryn (Markle) Lawrence, his wife of 72 years.

Laverne was born July 7, 1926 in McSherrystown, the son of the late Richard and Thelma (Barbour) Lawrence.

Laverne was a 50 year member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Abbottstown. He retired from the U.S. Naval Supply Depot, Mechanicsburg after working 26 years, was a co-owner of the Lawrence Subaru car dealership, Hanover, for 34 years, and prior owner of Terry and Laverne Motors, Hanover for 15 years. Laverne was a member of the BPOE Elks in Hanover and LOOM Moose in McSherrystown.

In addition to his wife Helen, Laverne is survived by a son, Terry L. Lawrence and his wife Joan of Hanover, a granddaughter, Lori Lawrence of Hanover, a grandson, Patrick A. Lawrence and his wife Maria of Hanover, one brother, Gary L. Lawrence and his wife Joan of Mechanicsburg, four great grandchildren; Chase, Peyton, Brent, and Ashley, and four great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by four sisters; Etheline Groft, Frances Livelsberger, Lorraine Kline, and Janet Hagerman.

Private services will be at the convenience of the family. The Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincolnway West, New Oxford is in charge of arrangements.
